    Motivique Studio

    (34 reviews)

I have a rare combination of many years being self-taught and a university degree. I understand the struggles and frustrations from all angles. Of course, this doesn't change the primary truth of accomplishing anything - the only way you get there is to do the work. But I have a lot of insight into the problems a person may face along various parts of their journey, and can help them overcome, whether it's gaps in their knowledge from no theory or lack of improvisational and compositional confidence from only being able to play what's on the page. I love teaching, and I love those moments when a student makes realizations in class or comes to me saying "Let me show you what I learned since I saw you last!"

Liberty Allen Guitar & Bass Lessons

    (5 reviews)

I am originally from Los Angeles. I am a graduate of the Guitar Institute of Technology (GIT) in Los Angeles, California. I also have a bachelor's degree from the University of Texas in Austin. At the moment, I have some selected spots open for new students. I teach beginner, intermediate, and advance students. I teach hour-long one-on-one lessons to my students once a week from my home in south-east Plano, TX near I75 and pres. George Bush Tollway. I also have a few spots available for outside lessons. Which means that I can come to you for a small additional charge. Primary playing styles are rock, blues, country, and jazz. What I Teach: I teach you all the info you need to know on how to play the Guitar and Bass. Songs that you want to learn, Sight Reading, Tab Reading, Harmony and Theory, Rhythm and Lead Guitar, Fingerpicking, Ear Training, Guitar and Bass Picking Techniques, and much more for beginner to advance professionals. General Music/Teaching Philosophy: Learning the guitar or any instrument, should be done in a great environment. Having so many years of experience teaching and playing professionally has taught me that the teaching environment should be fun, challenging and rewarding. But remember, like anything new that you try it takes time and practice. You don't go to the gym one time and get muscles overnight. But, with some dedication and practice learning an instrument can be one of the most rewarding experiences that you can ever have for yourself, your friends, your family and professionally.

I care so much about my students-I always go the extra mile to make sure the material is FUN and relevant to what they want to learn. I focus on getting the student JAMMIN' quick rather than focusing on musical theory-this comes later :) I love it because it is different every day and I get to play guitar for a living! What's not to love?!

    Classical Guitar Studio

    (1 reviews)

Learn to play the classical guitar with fun. I have over 16 years of experience in classical guitar, and general musicianship instruction. I offer the following: • beginner to advanced levels • all ages welcome • traditional or classical and Suzuki method • group lessons • trial lesson or initial analysis available free of charge • CD recording available for advanced students I believe that the first thing a student needs to learn to become a good musician, is to learn how to play their instrument properly. Many instructors insist on teaching students songs, without ensuring that the proper technique is achieved; this methodology can have serious repercussions later on, as bad habits are learned, and are very difficult to unlearn. My approach may take longer, but will result in a stronger foundation from which to build on. Within six months, students taught using my methods, will play music far more competently. Another important philosophy incorporated in my teaching method, is the belief that students learn better if they enjoy what they are learning. As such, I encourage self-motivation and positive reinforcement. If a student regards learning the guitar a chore, they will not only resent practicing, but will not increase their abilities. I seek students who genuinely want to play the guitar, and encourage them to select the style which they want to pursue. My job is to ensure they play well; it is up to the student to decide which musical direction to explore. I employ a number of highly effective guitar teaching methods, including the traditional or classical approach, and the Suzuki method. The Suzuki method, also called talent education, mother-tongue method, or Suzuki movement, is an education philosophy which strives to create high ability and beautiful character in its students, through a nurturing environment. The nurture involved in the movement is modeled on some of the factors present in native language acquisition, such as immersion, encouragement, small steps, and an unforced timetable for learning material, based on each person's developmental readiness to imitate examples, internalize principles, and contribute novel ideas.

  • Guitar Lessons By Ben

    (18 reviews)

The types of lessons offered are as follows: * Composition Lessons * Guitar Lessons * Music Theory Lessons I have a professional certificate from the Musicians Institute in Hollywood, CA. Theory and ear training, I feel, are very important to learn when trying to understand music. It just gives you a basic mathematical way of understanding how music works. These can be very frustrating to learn and take some time to sink in, so if you don't want to learn them, then that is great. Ear training is cool because when you start to understand it, you can actually hear music and not just listen to it. You can listen to a chord progression on the radio, go home and play it as well as improvise over it.

Plug in Voice

(13 reviews)

What do you love about your job?

My students are enthusiastic to learn. I'm also enthusiastic to learn how they learn in order to customize their training and efficiently reach their goals. I want to give them the best experience. I know what it takes to be a great singer, and I love helping people realize their potential. I train my students based on their goals, which is much more rewarding than training everyone the same way. If you want to audition for The Voice, I'm not going to give you opera but instead, the techniques to immediately fix some issues that may interfere with your vocal production and confidence as you go to a major audition. My students are the reasons why I teach and love my job.

Who or what inspired you to start your business?

I started my own business because so many teachers refuse students and teach them based on what they want to teach rather than what they want to learn. Many students were told that they cannot sing or were taught incorrect techniques. I am my student's teacher, coach, therapist, and friend. I support them through what can sometimes be a road to recovery. Singing is very personal as your instrument is inside and a part of you. I am in the business of exploring the beauty, power, and integrity of my singers’ instruments. I train their voices to effectively access proper techniques. I encourage each person to learn from the past and thrive on the present. This is a good business to be in!

  1. #1 Guitar Lessons By Trey

    (49 reviews)

    Nathan P.

Ok so here is the deal, I personally at 25 have never played an instrument in my life. I figured I needed a hobby, and always wanted to play. I personally hate the traditional, structured "You have to do this before we can move on" system and wasn't super psyched about it at first. Then I met Trey and realized this was not that kind of instruction. The teaching style is very personalized and down to earth. Trey can play really well and is incredibly knowledgeable about many aspects of guitar. I have only been doing it for three months and he already has me playing Machinehead by Bush. A truly motivating and enthusiastic individual, I'm glad to call him my teacher.

Michael is a great instructor, I can tell. He definitely knows what he's talking about when it comes to music theory and learning your way around the fretboard. In just one hour of being instructed by him, I learned more information than I have in my 8 years of self-teaching! I highly recommend this instructor, and I would set him up with anybody who's interested in learning about the guitar! Go to this gentleman!

  3. #3 Willy Sage Master Guitar Institute

    (27 reviews)

    Wesley W.

Wanted to learn the guitar and thought it would be a long hard road.… Willy Sage makes it fun even when you're starting out.…after the second lesson I couldn't walk past my guitar without wanting to pick it up and practice the things he taught me.… Very informal and down to earth.…doesn't get too caught up in technicalities.… At least not yet.… And even if it does get technical he has got my confidence so high I feel like I could sub for Keith Richards and back up the Stones tomorrow.…Don't get with Willy unless you want your other activities to suffer because you'll never want to put your guitar down.

  4. #4 Creative Guitar Tuition

    (26 reviews)

    John H.

I am a working musician. So, finding a guitar teacher that met MY standards was paramount. After interviewing many "good" and "qualified" teachers, I interviewed Warren. He blew me away. I cannot recommend Warren highly enough. His methodology is fantastic, and my son LOVE's him. He looks forward to his private lesson EVERY week. And as for results, I could not be happier. My son has improved leaps and bounds... not only in is playing... but also in his understanding of music theory. If you're looking for an outstanding guitar teacher that is more than just a music teacher (he's more of a mentor), give Warren a call. You won't be disappointed.

I'd been plunking away at the piano by myself for about a year when I decided to take lessons from Liam. I'm so glad I did. He is a challenging teacher but manages to also be fun and funny. I leave my lessons with a new set of objectives to practice over the week which helps me continue to make progress. His lessons are the perfect mix of technique and artistry. Highly recommended.
