My son's test grades improved immediately. She has also branched out to new subjects when he understands current lessons...including chemistry. So helpful.

The RAI experience has been great for all three of our children. Mr. Benesh is professional in teaching the kids about the SAT as well as understanding them at their level. He is available for students who need extra attention. He is wanting every student to do their best and will give them the needed advice to achieve success. I would highly recommend RAI's SAT bootcamp.

My son worked and continues to work with John to help raise his scores on the ACT and SAT. So far his ACT score went up 2 points with just a couple of lessons. John comes to our house, is patient, and clearly knows his material and how to convey it to teens!! He has been flexible with regard to scheduling and seems to really care about the students. I highly recommend CUTS!!!

I really enjoyed working with Poojitha. I believed that it would be hard to understand her when she spoke. Because she is from another country. I was really wrong, Poojitha has a heart to teach. She takes her time and for the very first time I've found someone who could work with my study needs. Something that has been so hard to do.When Poojitha borke the work down in ways were easy for me to understand. The only regret I had while working with Poojith. Was I did not have the funds to keep it going. I encourage anyone needed help with their studies to reach out to young lady Poojitha! She truly has a heart to teach and a heart for people. I call her my angel sent from heaven, God sent this young lady into my life and I am grateful for the time she took with me. Also when I didn't have the money she was still willing to give me lessons. But I am a truly believer of not using someone for my gain. God Bless You Always Lady Poojitha.

My son is a senior at HRA and needed help with his SAT prep, since his score from May testing was not enough to apply in the college of his top choices. I reached out back in June of 2015 and ended up hiring Megan as a tutor after a long conversation with her and felt very confident about my choice even though there weren't much of review about her. Megan was very attentive and flexible with my very busy senior's schedule ( plays foot ball and hockey) I was pleased with her assessment of his skills before she began. She has helped out so much and now that we have the result of his improved recent SAT score, he is putting in the early decision application to one of his choice school. is improved enough to apply at school of his choice. I believe that Megan truly loves math and teaching others to love and improve on this subject and enjoys what she does. Charges for the lessons are very reasonable and to be frank, I would pay a lot more for all the extra work she has done for my son. I wish she could've been my son's tutor during his entire high school. Not only Megan is highly recommended by both my husband and I, my son is happy with the help she has given him. I wish I could give her 10 stars but unfortunately, 5 is max.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How do you find a good math tutor?

Math home tutors are available for any age student, from elementary school to postgraduate studies. Rates will vary based on the tutor’s background, education and experience. To find a good math tutor, first determine your learning goals. Do you need help understanding and completing homework assignments? Are you preparing for the math portion of a standardized test? Next, read reviews from current and former students. Find someone with proven success helping students achieve their goals. If you want help on an ongoing basis, decide what your budget is and identify the tutors who fall within your range. Ask if there are additional fees for travel, as some home math tutors include travel costs in their rates and others charge extra. Ask about session length and the tutor’s teaching style, and whether they also offer online sessions or group sessions. Finally, schedule a single session with each of the math tutors you think are best to see who is the best fit.

How much do math tutors cost?

Math is a subject that’s challenging for many students. Fortunately, home math tutors can help students excel in math by working with them in focused one-on-one tutoring sessions. Pricing may range between $40 and $100 per hour, depending on the math subject. As a rule, the more complex the subject matter, the more the math tutor will charge for the lessons.
