My experience with Tony n his crew was great. We had a bad series of water damage in our home. The original contractors we hired left the job incomplete and bailed on us. Tony came to the rescue. He not only finished our bathroom but he put his two cents into it and made it look better than the original repair work for a reasonable quote. He's very professional. He even did some handyman work around the home like fix my door knob, paint an unfinished wall unrelated to the water damage for free. The crew cleaned up after themselves and went over their work to make sure they covered everything. He's very detail oriented. And has a passion for what he does. He put his focus on making sure his customer's happy. I will definitely call him again for our next home project.

Wonderful, these guys came out within 24 hours of the call to do a free estimate. They explained everything that needed to get done and what the cause of the problem was. The came out the very next day to do the repairs. They went above and beyond to fix problems they ran into while working on the roof that the prior roofers had created. The price was fantastic for the job done. Offered a two year warranty on the work and we was very pleased with everything. A++

John and his crew were quick to respond and quick to get to work. He always sent photos and updated me with anything going on at the project and waited for a approval to make any changes. He alerted me to additional problems that I did not even see (sinking spot in roof). His work was professional, thorough and reasonably priced. I would definitely hire him again.

I highly recommend Jeffrey Post for home repair needs. High quality work with a fair price is what you will get. Jeffrey went the extra mile to find the material needed for my roof repair, which was urgent to me due to upcoming rain.

Gave an up-front quote which was nice for just the small roof patch job I had. For such a small job, which I took the time to spell out in my Thumbtack request for quotes, I didn't want to have to go through the hassle of multi contractor visits with the whole "we'll see what it's going to cost you when I take a look at the job" thing....which is what the other contractors were doing. Just wanted to get a price, bring the contractor out, and get the job knocked out. That's what Randy did. He was responsive with the quote process, quickly arranged a time via Thumbtack, he came out, I showed him the area, and him & his partner knocked it out in ~15 minutes. Took a look after and appeared to be squared away. If it leaks after the next bout of storms, I'll know. But everything looks patched up nicely to me. Minor ding for being an 1 hour late from what he'd told me without a phone call, but since there's no 1/2 star choice and he was a pleasant guy, I'll be charitable and round up. So for a minor patch job, I'd recommend Randy.

We had an out-building with a leaking roof. We decided to have the old shingles removed and get new ones put up when repairs were done. A-Plus came out and inspected the attic space to assess the damage. They submitted a detailed proposal with a very fair price. They said they could get to it in about 2 weeks and, even though we had a lot of rain those 2 weeks, they were able to meet the schedule. The roof is beautiful! We had a relatively small project but they treated it the same as a large one. I'll definitely go straight to them next time I need a roofing contractor.

I have known Mr. Taylor for over 30 years and after the death of my husband 15 years ago, I contacted him on several occasions for different task around my home. He has painted the inside and outside of my home, replaced storm doors, fixed plumbing problems, clean my carpets, clean my windows inside and out, removed discarded furniture and other household items. Also did roof repair, cut down limbs from overgrown trees, taken care of my lawn work. When my daughter was moving he assisted her in moving her furniture to her new apartment. As a general contractor he has done a lot of home repairs for me. He makes sure that the work is done correct and to your satisfaction. His prices are also reasonable. He is also very reliable. I have referred him to other friends and family.

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a standing seam metal roof?

A standing seam metal roof may be a strong, durable, safe choice when you’re considering metal roofing installation options. A standing seam refers to the raised seam where the sheet metal roofing panels join. Traditionally, shingles and roof panels lie flush to the roof, making them more prone to rust or penetration by water at their seams. In a standing seam metal roof, the raised (or standing) seams run vertically from the roof ridge to the eaves, with no horizontal seams. In addition, the fasteners joining the metal panels together are concealed, providing even fewer opportunities for water or moisture to build up. The cost to install a standing seam metal roof will depend on the type of metal you select, the size of your roof, and the cost of roofing labor in your region. Materials will play a major role in your metal roofing installation costs. If you select standard galvanized steel, the cost per square (100 square feet) might be in the $150-$300 range, while a high-end choice such as copper or zinc could be between $1,000 and $1,500 per square. Here is one example of cost:

          • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
            • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.

Can a metal roof be installed over shingles?

Metal roofs are durable, environmentally friendly, safe and budget-friendly. If you’re considering an update, metal roofing installation doesn’t have to mean completely removing your old roof. In many cases, metal roofing can be installed over your existing shingles. Research building codes in your state, as many require that after two roofs have been installed, all roofing materials must be completely removed before a third roof can be put on. This protects your home’s structural integrity and your family’s safety. Carefully read contractor reviews and choose someone with extensive experience with metal roofing installation. One concern when installing metal over shingles is that over time, condensation can build on the shingles and cause the metal to rust. This will lead to rust around the panels, making them more likely to come loose in a storm. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000. The wide price range represents different roof sizes, different types of metal, and the cost of labor in different parts of the country — and can also include the cost of removing an old shingle roof prior to installing the metal. As a line item, the average cost of removing an old roof to prepare for installing a new roof, plus adding new roof decking, costs on average about $45-$75 per square (the pro roofer’s term for 100 square feet), depending on the pitch of the roof. Always make sure you have a clearly written contract and a warranty on both the labor and the metal.

How much does it cost for a metal roof?

Metal roofing installation is an attractive option thanks to metal’s long lifespan, hardiness and fire-retardant properties. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000.There are different types of metal roofs, each with their own installation needs and materials costs. Roof size also affects your metal roofing installation costs, as do regional labor rates. Roof size is measured in squares; one square equals 100 square feet. Here are some examples of the average cost for a metal roof:

          • Standard metal roof: $120-$150 per square to start, including materials and labor
            • A 30-square roof (a 3,000-square-foot roof) could cost between $3,600 and $4,500 for a typical three-bedroom home.
          • Snap-Loc metal roof: $200-$225 per square to start, including materials and labor.
            • A 30-square roof could cost $6,000-$6,750.
          • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
            • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.
          • Tuff-Rib metal roof: $250-$350 per square to start, including materials and labor.
            • A 30-square roof could cost $7,500-$10,500.
          • Mid-range metal roof package, including all accessories: $300-$500 per square.
            • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000-$15,000.
          • High-end metal roof package — such as zinc or copper — and all accessories: $1,000-$1,500 per square.
            • A 30-square roof could cost $30,000-$45,000.
