A bathroom tub had a slow leak, so I attempted to snake through the overflow. As soon as the snake touched the overflow pipe, the whole overflow/tub drain fell off into the crawl space under my home! I was disturbed by this, and I knew I needed immediate plumbing expertise - Thumbtack connected me to Mario the Drain Chief. It's was about 2 hours from when I made my initial Thumbtack inquiry to when Mario arrived, scoped the job and provided an estimate. Mario not only addressed the tub drain, but noted that the piping running from the tub to the main drain was held together with rubber gaskets - these gaskets were a contributing factor to the clog in the first place along with the pitch of the drain pipe. We agreed on a price and less than an hour later, he returned with all the necessary materials. About 4 hours total from initial inquiry to job complete. The drains are now all the appropriate rigid black pipe, with correct pitch & code compliant plastic hangars. Thanks to Mario, the root cause of the failure was addressed & the tub drains like a champ. Will hire again for the next plumbing adventure.

I have to echo the other 5 star reviews. Platinum removed and replaced rusted broken sewer pipes under my house with all new horizontal piping. A hard and dirty job but their work was truly outstanding. Then they cleaned outside drains which were clogged with roots which had been growing for years. Again, not an easy job but they kept at it until it was done. Joel, Rafael and crew were persistent and efficient. And left my house and outside areas clean. Wouldn't know they were here. Power washed and swept all outside spaces & didn't leave any debris behind. And they showed up when they said they would. Compared to the other plumbers I've had work on my house since I inherited it last year they were the best. Highly recommended!

UPDATE: Defective work, now has disappeared, not answering phone. Our bathroom backed up yesterday, and Efrain hasn't returned any calls or messages for two whole business days. Unprofessional at a minimum. I see he has been on Thumbtack in the last 8 hours, so I'm posting this on the chance it will motivate him to respond and address the problem. But if nothing changes, I would warn people away from this vendor. Previous review: Efrain was the first to reach out to me, and he impressed me with his clear, prompt communication about the work. We needed to dig up and replace the main drain pipe coming out of our house, which was not a small job. He gave a fair price, arrived exactly when he promised and did an excellent job. He has a clear intention to deliver a high level of service and it shows. Would absolutely hire him again.

While Dylan, the plumber sent by Plumber Tom, arrived promptly on time and eventually completed the work, I was very unimpressed by his ability to read and follow the written details of the job requirements and product instructions. He objected to setting the shower pan in mortar (as specified in the product instructions), did a poor job in his first attempt to place it in mortar by mixing the mortar too thick and then had an inadequate supply to fully set it on the second try. I had to prompt him to check for level, which he should have automatically done. When he returned for the final installation of the sink and toilet, he complained about the difficulties, including sink supply valves being set too low - which was his own work from the rough-in phase. The IKEA sink drain pipe is set in an unusual way so the drawers will close. In spite of written instruction on the proper rough-in for the drain line, the IKEA installation manual and my verbal directions, he got it wrong and I had to have him return and do it correctly. He also broke a part on the shower control and ended up with the handle not in the proper position. On this, I do not know if the problem was a design/manufactureing problem or his installation, but although he tried to correct it several times (leading to the broken part), he did not think to call Delta tech support. These comments apply only to the new service Plumber Tom has started in Los Angeles. If you hire them in LA, I suggest you be prepared to be fully aware of the technical aspects of your job and closely supervise the work.
