George really knows what he's doing. One fast, reliable and competent hard worker! He knew how to create solutions to problems with different types of furniture assembly. He hung lights, a ceiling fan, minor drywall, hung heavy wall mounted items, even purchased the parts needed without bothering me to do it. He is talented, cleans up and handles the jobs with care and doesn't try and over charge. Thanks George! Angela & Paul Harris

I had roof repair done a year ago and the leak continued. However Dry Guys roofing, was able to find the problem, fix it properly and the roof no longer leaks. I highly recommend Dry Guys roofing. Josh was able to troubleshoot and find the problem he just would not give up until he found the problem and fixed it. He demonstrates not only skill but he cares about his customers. When the time comes to completely replace the roof I will definitely call Dry Guys Roofing and Repair.

We got stood up by our last contractor who did not finish the job, so we called on Eric to make it right. He gave us a fair price upfront and got the work done quickly. He did a phenomenal job and I wouldn't hesitate to hire him again.

This was my first choice going into finding estimates. The gentleman that came to my house, George, was very nice. Called me to let me know he was on the way. Answered all my questions made sure I understood everything. I ultimately had to postpone my roofing project and went with a different company because my budget is broke college student thin. The price was fair and though I didn't get a written estimate I was pleased with their customer service.

We had a roof leak and it turned out to be a bigger problem than we expected. We phoned several roofing companies and were told over the phone how bad our roof was and it would be better to redo the roof. The house is 14 years old with a tile roof. We called storm roofing, they made arrangements to come out right away and provide a free estimate. They arrived on time, took many pictures of the needed repair and provided us several options on the work needed. Not once did they mention an entire roof, not once did they attempt to add on to the work I needed to fix the problem. Gave me a written estimate AND SUGGESTED I GET A FEW MORE ESTIMATES FROM OTHER COMPANIES. I phoned two additional companies, one showed up and was more money, the other made an appointment, called and wanted to reschedule. I went with Storm roofing, I was home the day of repair and was impressed by the quality and care they put into their work. If you have a roofing problem, call them, they did a great job!

Roofing work performed and small dry wall ceiling repair. Daniel came in, gave us an estimate, returned and did the work just as he said he would. He identified the problem, took pictures so we could see what he was talking about and he did a good job on the repair. We will be hiring him to do more work on our house. We were pleased. ER

My experience with Castle Roofing was awesome. They are very reasonable and workmanship was excellent. They finished the job in a reasonable time. What I love about Castle Roofing was the lifetime warranty they gave me on my shingles. Paul V. Was an excellent, knowledgable , experience Roofing consultant. I would definitely rate Paul and Castle Roofing as a 5 star company that backs their work through quality and craftsmanship. They are trustworthy and say what they're going to do. I would recommend these guys highly.

After interviewing 4 roofing companies after hurricane Irma damage , this company was available within two weeks for whole roof replacement. Sales rep is a third generation roofer. His integrity and knowledge shined through . A bit higher than one other quote however I have no regrets. They came on time every day and finished the roof in two days . 10 man crew ! I would of given them a 5 however the dump company they used, ruined one small section of decorative curb and my drive way . Not repaired yet.

These guys are great. Rodney came when he said he would, then gave me a good quote and all the details so there wouldn't be any surprises as they did the work. He and Chuck showed up when expected and got right to work. The first job was installing tile in my home office and when they were done it looked so good that we decided to hire them to do the hall and living room. This was a big enough job for Chuck to have a helper/trainee, and I overheard Chuck explaining to his helper how to prep the floor and lay the tile, and I was impressed by his level of care and knowledge of his job. Not only showing concern for how it would look today, but how it would stand up over time. Thanks team, and let me know if you ever need a personal reference.

Overall, a great company to work with! Work was completed for an insurance claim after Hurricane Irma. Installers took pictures of any unseen damage before replacing, and keep them on file should the insurance company have a question. First days' cleanup was a little light, but the final cleanup was complete - no "missed" roofing nails! Neighbor used a different company (both houses were contracted the same week), but his took 3 weeks longer to schedule & complete and the installation has been red-tagged twice by the local Building Inspectors. I would not hesitate to use Sun Coast Roofing in the future, should "Mother Nature" see fit to stop by, again!

I am a business owner and I have a large two story building that I operate out of. It recently came to my attention that I had multiple leaks in the roof. After extensive searching for a quality Roofer I settled upon Precision Property Solutions and I’m very happy that I did. First off, Jason and Jeremy came out and evaluated the roof and after doing so came to the conclusion that the best option was to replace. I had multiple other roofers wanting to patch the multiple leaks for over half of the same price that it cost me to replace. They also gave me a great warranty. I don’t normally leave reviews but I felt in this case I needed to because I would definitely recommend them again, thanks guys.

Doug and his team of professionals were amazing to deal with through the duration of the project. Emails were answered, phone calls returned and questions were always thoroughly and promptly responded to. In general, the job they did was exceptional, but in my opinion, the communication is what sets them apart from all other contractors I have had work on my house(s) over the years.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a standing seam metal roof?

A standing seam metal roof may be a strong, durable, safe choice when you’re considering metal roofing installation options. A standing seam refers to the raised seam where the sheet metal roofing panels join. Traditionally, shingles and roof panels lie flush to the roof, making them more prone to rust or penetration by water at their seams. In a standing seam metal roof, the raised (or standing) seams run vertically from the roof ridge to the eaves, with no horizontal seams. In addition, the fasteners joining the metal panels together are concealed, providing even fewer opportunities for water or moisture to build up. The cost to install a standing seam metal roof will depend on the type of metal you select, the size of your roof, and the cost of roofing labor in your region. Materials will play a major role in your metal roofing installation costs. If you select standard galvanized steel, the cost per square (100 square feet) might be in the $150-$300 range, while a high-end choice such as copper or zinc could be between $1,000 and $1,500 per square. Here is one example of cost:

  • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.

Can a metal roof be installed over shingles?

Metal roofs are durable, environmentally friendly, safe and budget-friendly. If you’re considering an update, metal roofing installation doesn’t have to mean completely removing your old roof. In many cases, metal roofing can be installed over your existing shingles. Research building codes in your state, as many require that after two roofs have been installed, all roofing materials must be completely removed before a third roof can be put on. This protects your home’s structural integrity and your family’s safety. Carefully read contractor reviews and choose someone with extensive experience with metal roofing installation. One concern when installing metal over shingles is that over time, condensation can build on the shingles and cause the metal to rust. This will lead to rust around the panels, making them more likely to come loose in a storm. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000. The wide price range represents different roof sizes, different types of metal, and the cost of labor in different parts of the country — and can also include the cost of removing an old shingle roof prior to installing the metal. As a line item, the average cost of removing an old roof to prepare for installing a new roof, plus adding new roof decking, costs on average about $45-$75 per square (the pro roofer’s term for 100 square feet), depending on the pitch of the roof. Always make sure you have a clearly written contract and a warranty on both the labor and the metal.

How much does it cost for a metal roof?

Metal roofing installation is an attractive option thanks to metal’s long lifespan, hardiness and fire-retardant properties. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000.There are different types of metal roofs, each with their own installation needs and materials costs. Roof size also affects your metal roofing installation costs, as do regional labor rates. Roof size is measured in squares; one square equals 100 square feet. Here are some examples of the average cost for a metal roof:

  • Standard metal roof: $120-$150 per square to start, including materials and labor
    • A 30-square roof (a 3,000-square-foot roof) could cost between $3,600 and $4,500 for a typical three-bedroom home.
  • Snap-Loc metal roof: $200-$225 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $6,000-$6,750.
  • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.
  • Tuff-Rib metal roof: $250-$350 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $7,500-$10,500.
  • Mid-range metal roof package, including all accessories: $300-$500 per square.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000-$15,000.
  • High-end metal roof package — such as zinc or copper — and all accessories: $1,000-$1,500 per square.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $30,000-$45,000.
