Rockin Times did our wedding on June 7, 2014. Let me begin by saying that I read the negative review recently posted and I am utterly apalled at what was written. It is more than obvious that this person is trying to get something for nothing and that is truly sad. We had worked with Brian and Simona for well over 6 months and in that time, they remained professional, friendly and fun. Simona was great at planning our wedding and never charged a dime for those services. The wedding planners I had reached out to prior to hiring Rockin Times would have charged me $2500 for 4 hours of time. Simona put way more than 4 hours of time into planning and setting up our timeline. Both her and Brian helped us to pick out music. They had great ideas and took the time to ask questions to find just the right songs for us. Now we come to the day of the wedding. They were early, dressed professionally and simona kept us focused and on our timeline. The ceremony was absolutely beautiful. Brian and Eric--- the DJs--- did a wonderful job with the music. Simona gave us the GRAND introductions as she promised to. All of the formalities were perfect. Then the party began. WOW. Everyone had a great time. I am still getting compliments about how much fun our wedding was. Nothing inappropriate was ever played. Music for all ages and genres was played and Brian and Eric read the crowd like a book. The floor stayed full. The entire night was everything we dreamed of and more. So I find it impossible that the one negative review could possibly be true, especially when I see all of the 5 stars that Rockin Times has. They are the real deal and if you choose not to hire them based on the one bad review that obviously was posted to get their services free is truly an injustice to a truly great company. If I had a way to give them 20 stars, I would in a heartbeat. As it was, we did substantially tip them and they earned every dime. Last week they did our Halloween party and again did a perfect job. Our friends are still talking about how much fun they had. We will hire only Rockin Times for our future events and HIGHLY recommend them to anyone who needs a dj for any type of event. They are truly the best choice and their prices are great too. If I had to offer any advise to the company, it would be charge more. For all the work you do, you need to be compensated for it. And I have seen where some people have an issue with gratuity. Being that you are so inexpensive, they should be willing to offer a good tip. But if you charge more, then gratuity won't be an issue. I know why you keep your costs low and there are those that do appreciate it and will reward you for that. But for those who for whatever reason don't feel the need to reward you with a fair tip or one at all if you raise your prices, then maybe you can at least get paid for all the extra time you put into your work. There's no amount of money to pay you for the amount of your heart that you put into your work. But hopefully your customers will see for themselves how much you care. I know we did and do and will use you as many times as we can and our friends will too.

CR Ryan is fantastic! My husband and I had already booked the DJ for our wedding, then one night @ Champps restaurant, fate took us for a fun ride while stumbling onto the incredible magic of CR Ryan! He had all of us mesmerized - including my dad who isn't easily tricked! CR Ryan is more than a magician and DJ... he creates an experience and laughter and brings the entire party to life! We had to have him at our wedding reception and the guests went wild!!! He is a MUST HAVE for your occasion!

Dave provided officiant services for our wedding on May 26th and we couldn't be happier. Dave provided us with an outline for our ceremony and we were able to tailor our ceremony to how we wanted it. Dave officiated the ceremony as we requested and also added in his own little touches which made the ceremony perfect. Dave was very professional and punctual on the day of the wedding and the we can't recommend his services enough :)

Indybeatz entertainment was/is awesome! We needed a DJ ASAP due to a last minute conflict with our wedding being just a week away. DJ Indy contacted us right away to let us know he could organize and service our event on short notice. DJ Indy's wonderful reviews, prompt response to our messages and professional conduct were the catalyst to our decision to hire him. We experienced opportunity with our wedding coordinator during the wedding program and DJ Indy took the lead, realigned the event timeline and pushed the events. Not only is he a DJ, but he is a confident event host with enough of the right experience to introduce the correct compromise to any subsequent change in plan. He does it all. Dj Indy stayed to our timeline and personalized playlists as well as performed freestyle record spin during open dance hours. En-Closing: DJ Indy is an interactive event host that keeps the crowd happy and engaged. He made our special night so awesome! I cant wait to have my next event so I can hire DJ Indy again! Look nowhere else folks! He is the one!

Cory took photos of my wedding. She took pictures while I was getting ready and while the groom and his friends were getting ready. She took pictures during the wedding, after the wedding, during the reception, and after the reception. She did portraits as well as action shots. She did this all on her own. She was very calm through all the chaos and captured every important moment. She even got silly moments captured without missing a beat. Her editing skills are great and she had the photos back in a reasonable amount of time. I even lost the cd of my pictures and she responded quickly with a backup. If there was any criticism I could give I would say she should find a partner who shares the same vision to have helped her capture double the pictures.

Mitchell was a pleasure to work with at my wedding. He and his brother were very professional and got all of the shots we were looking for without interfering with any of the activities. He also took the time to re-record the ceremony after the wedding to enhance the sound quality on our video. We are very pleased with the final product, and highly recommend Mitchell. He was a fantastic value as well!

We contacted Christine the day of the wedding due to our other plans falling through. She was able to "drop everything" to come and assist us. Without her, our big day would have been a disaster. If I could give her 6/5 stars I would.

We had the best experience with Saturnalia Affairs. They honestly did more than what they were contracted to do for our Big day to make sure we didn't have to do anything. They went above and beyond to make sure my now wife and I and our family members did not have to do anything except enjoy our whole weekend with all of our friends and family. I can not recommend them enough for any event but especially for your Wedding! Thank you so much Heather and your amazing team!!

Kara was my lady knight in shining armor. The photographer for my wedding backed out two weeks prior to the big day, and I was totally panicked. I was put in touch with Kara by a mutual friend. She made it clear that, though she hadn't done a wedding before, she was willing to do the research and put in the time to make it happen for me at an incredibly reasonable price. Kara was so sweet from the beginning and so much fun to work with. I'm in love with my photos and will definitely be going back to her in the future.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What does a wedding event coordinator do?

Pulling off a large, complex wedding or an elegant, small affair requires juggling myriad details, including the officiant, food, drink, wedding cake, entertainment, transportation, rehearsal dinner, photography, equipment rentals, venue reservations and more. A wedding event coordinator can help you keep track of these details, overseeing the planning process and managing everything on the day of your wedding. Each wedding coordinator (and wedding) is different, but in general you can expect an event coordinator to:

  • Help you devise a realistic wedding budget and hold your vendors to it.
  • Map out a master plan that includes all of the details including ceremony music, favors, the guest book and more.
  • Suggest ceremony and reception locations that fit your wedding size, budget and vision.
  • Suggest florists, photographers, bands, caterers and other vendors that fit your budget.
  • Negotiate vendor contracts for the best deals.
  • Create a timeline for the day of the wedding that includes each vendor and member of your wedding party.
  • Mail invitations and track RSVPs.
  • Answer questions about wedding etiquette and current wedding trends.
  • Manage the wedding day from supervising vendors and setup to handling last-minute emergencies.

What is a videographer and what do they do?

A videographer professionally films weddings and other events and edits the footage to create film keepsakes or marketing materials for their clients. Wedding videographers record all the key elements of your wedding day, ceremony and reception, and then edit the hours of film during post-production to make a wedding video, social media highlight reels, and any other film features you choose. Wedding videography captures, in live action, your vows, the cake-cutting, the first dance, reception toasts, the decor, the guests and all the details of your day. Many wedding videographers also interview guests (based on an interview list provided by the couple) and incorporate the recorded responses into the wedding video. Event videography typically costs less than wedding videography, as events are shorter with less detail. The national average cost for event videography is $500-$760, while the national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. A videographer usually does not need to be licensed, but it is important to confirm they have insurance and good standing in the business community, as well as good client reviews. A great majority of the work happens during post-production. The pros watch and blend together the hours of footage they took (sometimes from multiple cameras) to capture the story of your wedding day or event.

How do you find a good caterer?

Reviews, interviews and menu tastings will help you find the right catering choice for your big day. Start by screening possible wedding caterers based on past reviews. If a caterer you are interested in has a review that concerns you, ask them about it; how they respond will be very telling. Next, ask about their availability for your wedding date.

If the wedding caterer is available on your date, it’s time to talk about menus and prices. Be clear about what your maximum budget is find out what choices this will allow you. Caterers may custom-create a menu for your event, or they may have menu templates within different price ranges that can guide your decision. A clear budget gives the caterer clear parameters within which to work and offer creative suggestions. Schedule a menu tasting to confirm you love your wedding menu. Once you have a menu and date, and have paid a deposit to reserve the caterer’s services, confirm additional details including when the food will be delivered to the site, what kind of service will be provided, how many servers will be onsite and for how long, and who is responsible for setup and cleanup. The more specific your contract, the fewer worries you’ll have on your wedding day. Get more smart hiring tips here.

What is a wedding planner?

A wedding planner is a professional service provider whose job it is to organize and execute all the details of a couple’s wedding. A wedding planner can be contracted at any stage in the wedding planning process to help to any degree the couple is willing to pay for. Wedding planning is similar to event planning in that a planning team handles the coordination of multiple wedding elements including catering, venue, guests, entertainment, decor, transportation and more. Anyone who has ever been involved in a wedding can confirm that wedding planning is hard work. Experience brings wisdom when it comes to avoiding or resolving day-of challenges. There is no legal regulatory body that oversees or certifies wedding planning as an industry. Anyone who chooses can call themselves a wedding planner. When looking for a wedding planner, be sure to read reviews, and make smart hiring decisions by asking about licenses and insurance.

How do you choose a wedding videographer?

A wedding videographer will create a lifetime memory for you from edited video footage of your wedding day, ceremony and reception. Choosing a wedding videographer starts with looking online at portfolios of their past work. There’s no need to talk to anyone unless you love what you see. Next, make sure they have good reviews and past client experience; don’t be shy about asking for references if there aren’t any posted online. When you find someone who has a style you love, ask if they are available on your wedding day. If so, it’s time to talk pricing. Be clear about your maximum budget, and ask what kind of packages they offer. Pricing will depend on the number of crew needed for filming, the hours they are required to be onsite, post-production editing, and the length of the final product. Talk with several wedding videographers to get a feel for what prices are like in your region. Nationally, the average cost for wedding videography ranges between $990 and $1,260 per event. Once you agree on a product and have a plan, get everything in a written and signed contract. Clearly state the details of what is expected for your wedding day and from the final product. Be prepared to pay a deposit to reserve their services for the day, then pay the remainder upon receiving the video.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
