I decided to select EBRR prop cleanup after reading some positive reviews from other restaurant operators who needed construction post cleaning. Also, since they are locally owned small business compared to a national francise. The admin Ed bilo when we set the initial appointment for estimate and inspection. The project lead was Luis one of the general managers. Our Indian restaurant had severe dust buildup on the hvac lines and wires which needed to be cleaned. The cleaning took a full day with four cleaners for our 8000 square foot place. There was no dilly dallying and everyone was working the entire time and Ed showed up later to make sure that all the tasked had been completed. I have already scheduled them to come sanitize our kitchen on a monthly basis.

Jose and his team were not only so kind, but VERY knowledgeable and worked efficiently. I hired them for a basic dryer vent cleaning and they wound up with a lot more work due to an issue with my dryer connection. Jose explained every step of the way to me and got the job done perfectly. Buying my first home and the issues that came along with it has been stressful, but it was so helpful to have Jose on site getting the work done well. Will be hiring again for air duct cleaning and chimney work!

Leo did a good job , he was on time and professional. Initial Quote for dryer vent cleaning was $129 and after seeing in person and dryer vent pipe goes all the way from living room to deck outside , the quotation was increased to $289 which is higher than the quote i received from the same company for whole house Air duct cleaning for 6-10 vents($249) . After negotiation they gave me a discount of $50 ($229). Even though it seemed still expensive for me after discount , i went for it.

cleaned the chimney and dryer vent, but didn't have a new cover on the truck to replace the old one, so he had to go back to the office to get it, took about 90 minutes longer

the cleaning of two old wing back chairs. a good job was provided with care and professionalism. they where on time and called prior to the service. I would certainly call them again. my only concern is that the quoted price was different from the price quoted after seeing the chairs. I just wish that there had been clarity on the original quote to expect different pricing. also it would have been very helpful if the original quote had the price break down for different types of cleaning products/services that maybe needed. such as deep cleaning, steam cleaning, and a fabric protection product, etc. other than that keep up the good work.

It was a pleasure to have Mr. Marion Scot and Eddie clean my carpets. They were pleasant, efficient and knowledgeable about their business. Most carpet cleaners do a once over and leave, but Scot cleaning worked on difficult stains and managed to get them out! I will certainly call Great Scott again when my carpet needs cleaning. A thorough and professional team...thanks for your excellent work!

Walter installed a 50 gallon power vented water heater in a basement crawlspace. From the first time i contacted him until the project was complete he was responsive and did what he said he would do. Walter even went out of his way to fit the install into our very busy schedule. He is a true professional and he completed the project on budget. Will be working with him on future projects.

I hired MJ Home Services to complete some work around my house that was on the inspection list. They offer a wide range of services but seem completely qualified and able to do everything. Roof was repaired (leak in the master bedroom from vent pipe) Mold Removed in basement front wall from a spicket leak (which they repaired as well!) I was extremely pleased to find 1 company that did everything. I received a certificate once work was completed and the entire crew was a pleasure to work with. I would recommend them if you need any type of work. Thank you John (who is the owner) he spent a hour doing the first walkthrough and was overall a overqualified inspector/owner that really seems to care which is hard to find.

Dave is a real professional. He came to my house today to look at what’s wrong with my HVAC since it’s not cooling enough. He checked the pressure, attic, vents everything and provided info based on his findings all for free. He also gave me a very good quote to replace my aging system. I would recommend him for any of your HVAC needs

Had a great opportunity to experience MissUniqueHome/ Business Repair. I had plumbing issues and needed two shut off valves: 1. to the toilet and 1. for an exterior hose. I have an older house and Samantha replaced the parts with the most updated versions: a ball lever for the exterior and a 1/4 turn valve for the toilet where I would have no worries for years and years to come. I am pleased with the choices. Professional and knowledgeable! I would recommend and certainly use her again.

Dan was fantastic. He did all he said he would do and then some. He not only cleaned the vents to my dryer, but went into the attic, disassembled the outside vent on the roof, and found the blockage that was keeping my dryer from working properly. I was thinking I'd have to buy a new dryer, but it works great now. He and his crew were very polite, skilled and professional. I will use them again, without a doubt.

Anthony worked with our limited schedule and arrived right on time. He performed the job well, cleaned up afterwards. Was honest about the state of our HVAC vents (not as bad as we thought) and our dryer vent (way worse than we thought). We would recommend his services and use him again for sure.

Ryan with My Four Seasons is a very knowledgeable HVAC professional. He not only inspected and tested my system prior to bidding on the job, but he also helped me to understand that my existing ductwork was not properly engineered and therefore was inadequate to supply any additional registers in the basement areas that I was finishing. He then proposed a solution to modify the existing main supply trunk prior to adding the additional basement vents. I'm very happy with result as it not only worked for for the new basement areas, but also improved supply to my main living floor.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

Do you need to clean your air ducts?

Air duct cleaning is done by heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) professionals. The pros use industrial-strength, truck-mounted vacuums and powerful brushes and hoses to clean inside the metal ducts that make up your forced air heating and cooling system. The Environmental Protection Agency recommends duct cleaning if there is “substantial visible mold growth inside hard surface ducts, ducts that are infested with vermin such as rodents or insects, or ducts that are clogged with excessive amounts of dust and debris and/or particles are actually released into the home from your supply registers.”

You should also have air ducts cleaned after recent water contamination or water damage to prevent mold; after renovations or remodeling to ensure debris and dust didn’t settle in the vents and ducts; if you are having problems with allergies or asthma; or when you are moving into a newly purchased home, especially if the previous owners smoked or had pets. The National Air Duct Cleaners Association (NADCA) recommends getting your air ducts cleaned every three to five years, or every two to three years in regions where homeowners use their air conditioning and heater for many months of the year, while the EPA suggests homeowners have duct cleaning done as needed.

How often should you get your air ducts cleaned?

How often you should clean your air ducts depends on your situation. If you or someone in the home has asthma or is acutely allergic to certain airborne materials or pollen, regular duct cleaning may be helpful. The Environmental Protection Agency doesn’t have an official position on the necessity of air duct cleaning unless the ducts have been contaminated by rodents, insects or mold, or you are aware of particles blowing out through the vents. The EPA recommends you have your air ducts cleaned on an as-needed basis. The National Air Duct Cleaners Association (NADCA) suggests having air ducts cleaned every three to five years.

Be cautious with companies that offer “whole house air duct cleaning,” urges the NADCA. The company may be using unscrupulous tactics to upsell you once they get started. Before any work begins, always clarify in writing what the job entails and what the cost will be. To protect yourself against fraud, read customer reviews and verify that your HVAC cleaning service has applicable licenses and certifications.

How much does it cost to replace air ducts in a house?

If your air ducts have been damaged, you’ll need to replace them. The national average air duct replacement cost is $150-$280, which may not include materials. Factors such as duct material, labor, location of ducts and linear feet of ductwork will all affect your final costs. Labor costs will vary based on how accessible the ducts are and what material your ducts are made of. The least expensive duct material is a flexible, non-metallic ducting that costs approximately $1-$2 per linear foot. Flexible aluminum is generally more expensive and stronger than non-metallic ducting. Stainless steel ducting is the strongest, the least flexible (meaning installing it typically has higher labor rates), and usually the most expensive. An average price for air duct replacement could range between $35 and $55 per linear foot, including basic materials and labor. A typical single-family home has 6-10 duct runs; replacing or installing one duct run could average $150-$250 for labor.

How long does it take to get your ducts cleaned?

The amount of time air duct cleaning takes can depend on how extensive your duct system is, how old your air ducts are, and whether they have ever been cleaned. On average, expect a standard size home (between 2,000 and 3,000 square feet) to take 2-5 hours for one to two technicians to clean. Here are the proper protocol and equipment you should expect from a professional duct cleaning service, as recommended by the Environmental Protection Agency:

  • All doors and access ports opened to ensure the entire duct system is inspected and cleaned.
  • Thorough system inspection prior to cleaning to identify possible asbestos-containing materials. If asbestos is present, specially trained and equipped contractors must do the removal.
  • Use of approved vacuum equipment that exhausts particles outside of your house. If the vacuum exhausts inside your home, it must be HEPA equipment.
  • Furnishings and carpet covered and protected.
  • Soft-bristled brushes only on fiberglass duct board and sheet metal ducts internally lined with fiberglass.
  • Ductwork properly protected.
  • Adherence to guidelines and practices set down by the National Air Duct Cleaners Association.

How much does it cost to have your air ducts cleaned?

If you’re concerned about dust, allergens or mold, it may be time to have your air ducts cleaned. The national average cost for air duct cleaning ranges from $190 to $250. Air duct cleaning costs will vary based on a number of factors such as your location in the country, the age and condition of your air ducts, the number of linear feet to be cleaned, and any repairs your ducts may need. HVAC cleaning companies should clearly outline what is included in their services and at what rate, so always make sure you understand and have a written agreement before work begins. Here are some examples of average air duct cleaning costs:

  • Tiered pricing for different levels of service:
    • Standard cleaning: $100, which may include truck-mounted industrial vacuums, high-pressure air wands and air snakes to clean all supply and return vents, branch lines, and main trunk lines.
    • Advanced cleaning: $200, which may include standard cleaning services, plus rotobrush or viper clean sweep in the main trunk lines.
    • Ultimate cleaning: $400, which may include advanced cleaning, plus insertion of a viper microline into all vents to force debris down the branch lines and into the main trunk lines, to be handled by the viper clean sweep. Typically, all ductwork surface is contacted, before-and-after photos are provided, and the furnace is cleaned.
  • A flat rate for unlimited vents: $289.
  • Additional fees for larger houses: $20 for each additional 500 square feet over 2,500.
Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
