My tile floor was steam cleaned and looks brand new. The carpets looked better than I could have ever expected. Booking an appointment was fast, easy and best of all, they showed up as planned.

Job was done quickly and professionally. That we were going to be wasting the money on getting them cleaned. For sure thought we were going to have to replace carpet. Terral (the tech) was upfront and said he would do his best but might not be able to get it totally cleaned. Well his best was good enough!! Carpets looked and smelled fantastic. We were all impressed on how they came out. NO NEED TO REPLACE CARPET. Now about the tech Terral he was just AWSOME. There was a problem with the work order and price was different then what was quoted and the amount of work that needed to be done was more then what he expected. He did not complain or argue he got on the phone made 1 call and 5 min later everything was taken care of. He also cleaned tile and grout it was money well spent. They came out perfect. Wife was not happy about spending the extra money to do it, until she saw it and was very happy. Terral was early called me to let me know and just had a great personality and he worked very hard for us and we very very happy with the whole process. Thank you Oxy Fresh. You have a customer for life

4 weeks ago I experienced a house fire and lost everything I own, including my beloved dog. I was able to quickly find a beautiful new construction townhome. The contractors did a little bit of a rush job and there were paint spots all throughout the flooring of the home. The task of getting paint out of laminate wood was not an easy one but Tyrone consulted with me, got my approval for the work that needed to be done, and forged ahead. He worked tirelessly to get out each little spot and the floors came out beautifully!! These are the kinds of things that help get through tragic situations..when you come across good people that have your back and want to help make your new place feel like home. Thanks Tyrone!! I'm in awe of your work!

He was very easy to get a hold of and communicate with. When he came by, he was very personable and knowledgeable. It explained the issue with our tile in our shower and kept the repairs minimal and for a reasonable price. Overall I could not have asked for better experience.

I recently moved into a new home that needed a lot of work. I was looking for a company that would be able to accommodate all my needs. I needed all bedrooms and bathrooms painted as well as new tile in my main bathroom and the wood floors refinished in the living room and my sons play room. Being new to the area I wasn't sure how I would achieve all of these tasks without having to hire several different people. A neighbor referred me to West County Home Services and said that they had done great work for her as well as many of her friends. So I called them and they were immediately ready to get to work. They were very clean and respectful. They achieved everything I needed in just a few days. And also fixed a few minor things that I would have probably never accomplished or even known were a potential issue free of charge... I have now recommended this company to several of the moms at my sons school as well and will continue to do so. I was so impressed with their efficiency and hard work, as well as the cost that I will definitely use them for any future projects. Highly recommended!!! The finished product far exceeded my expectations. Thanks for all your hard work.

Headline: Would definitely hire Mike again! Project: demo our 120 sq ft kitchen floor and replace it with 1x2 ft porcelain tile. Review: This was an easy-peasy project for professional tilers like Mike so I can't vouch for him on more complex projects (although others on Thumbtack can). But we can definitely speak to Mike's professionalism and care during our two-day construction. Mike communicated with us very well throughout the process from scheduling a bid to final touch-ups. He was able to identify potential issues and suggest solutions for us while taking into account our overall vision. And the completed project speaks to his decades of experience as a tiler. Long story short, he did what he said he would, when he said he would, and charged us what he said he would from the start. And he's a great guy as well; very fun to work with. We'll ask him back for any future projects we may have. Thanks Mike!

Tim and his crew are excellent craftsman and have a variety of Home Renovation skills. I had a basement remodel that I had started and needed them to drywall, mud, tape and paint. It looks awesome. Seeing how well they did that, I asked Tim to tile the bathroom I was building (shower and floor). I couldn't be happier. I look to use them on any home project that they wish to do.

I found Rob to be a man of his word on whatever job he did for me. I had hardwood floors installed and he did an excellent job plus he cleans up after himself. I also had him finish my lower level, which included a bedroom, a bathroom, bar and family room. His tile work was some of the best I've seen and again very neat.

I ordered a move for my family through this company. I was moving to Belleville metro from the countryside in Oakdale. Quinn's crew arrived on time and did the move without problems. I would have to rate this a great moving company. I'm currently having them do some handyman work in my new house and can't wait for my newly tiled bathroom!

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How can I get my grout clean?

Dirt, mildew and grime can make your grout lines look downright tragic. If you have the ability, DIY tile and grout cleaning is definitely doable. Your main obstacles are time, project size, availability of the right materials and effort. Your first step in tile and grout cleaning is making sure the surface area is cleaned of basic dirt and buildup and wiped down. Be sure not to use a bleach-based cleaning agent, which could react dangerously with the vinegar used in later steps.

Depending on the delicacy of your tile and grout, it may be wise to start with water and friction before proceeding to a cleaning solution. In the shower you can spray the area while brushing gently, or use a spray bottle filled with warm water on countertops or floors. If water won’t do the trick, try a solution of equal parts warm water and white vinegar, and repeat the gentle brushing motion. This combination should begin to lift dirt and grime from the grout. For additional tile and grout cleaning power, baking soda applied directly to grout lines and sprayed with your water vinegar solution can help suds off sticky grime. If your DIY cleaning solutions aren’t doing the trick, store-bought sprays and pastes may have more cleansing power. Rinse thoroughly after cleaning and enjoy your sparkling clean grout.

Tile and grout cleaning supplies include:

    • Old standard or electric toothbrush
    • Stiff bristle brush
    • Spray bottle
    • White vinegar
    • Commercial grout cleaner

How much does it cost to tile a shower?

The cost of tiling a shower depends on two main factors: the size of the shower and the quality of the tiles. In general, most professional tilers charge an average of $25 per square foot of tiled area and the national average cost for a tile installation project is $490-$750. The tiles themselves are the greatest variable; the cost depends on their size, shape, pattern and manufacturer. For example, tile purchased at a volume discount from a big-box store cost far less than tiles made in small batches by an artisan ceramics shop. Prices can range from as little as $1 to $50 or more per square foot of tile. Other factors that will drive up the total tile installation cost are grout and mortar, speciality tiles like bullnose caps or soap holders, and surface prep materials, especially if drywall needs to be replaced before the tile can be installed. Many tile installers will also remove and haul away any old materials from an existing shower installation.

How much does it cost to tile a bathroom?

Tile installation costs are a key part of your bathroom remodel costs. The tile you select (which can range from under $2 per square foot to $50 per square foot or more), the demolition and repair work required prior to installation, and the size of the job will all affect cost. You can install tile in the shower, on the counters, on the wall or on the floor. The national average for tile installation cost ranges between $490 and $750. Bathroom tile is easy to clean and durable for daily life. Here are some examples of average bathroom tile installation costs:

    • Tile installation at $25 per square foot of tiled bathroom area.
      • A standard tub and shower combo requires tiles for approximately 60 inches of length. Calculate wall height and add 30 to 36 inches of tub width for the walls at the head and foot of the tub. If the tile walls are 6 feet to 8 feet high, in this example, the tile installation costs would run about $2,000. Price includes materials.
    • Tile installation on a 3-foot by 5-foot regular tub and shower walls with an 8-foot ceiling: $1,450. Price includes materials.
    • Tile installation on a 3-foot by 5-foot regular tub and shower walls with a 10-foot ceiling: $1,650. Price includes materials.

How much does it cost to install a ceramic tile floor?

Tile installation costs for ceramic floors depend on the type of tile you select. You can purchase tile that sells for under $2 per square foot or tile that costs $50 per square foot — or more for artisanal and hand-painted tiles. The cost of labor to install a tile floor will also depend on the tile you select. It is far less labor-intensive to install a white 12-inch by 12-inch square tile than a 2-inch by 2-inch hexagonal tile with a distinct pattern. That extra time and energy equates to a higher per-square-foot installation cost. For example, a flooring pro may charge approximately $3.50 per square foot for labor to install wood-look tile in an area ranging between 6 feet by 24 feet and 8 feet by 48 feet. That same pro may charge $6 or more per square foot for a more intricate pattern, or a smaller space. Some installers may charge a minimum day rate for ceramic tile floor installation, such as $340 minimum per day, to cover business expenses and employee wages. If you’re looking to reduce costs, removing your existing flooring and handling any repairs needed can help eliminate prep work costs. Prep work may be charged per hour and could cost anywhere from $25 to $80 per hour or more, depending on the region and the type of repair work necessary.

How much does it cost to get tiling done?

You can install tiling on your floors, walls, counters, kitchen backsplash, outdoor patio and shower — to name a few places. Tile is beautiful, easy to clean, durable, and resilient against kids and pets. The national average for tile installation cost ranges between $490 and $750. Often, tile installation specialists quote a price per square foot for installation. Costs can increase if you want the pro to supply the tile instead of ordering it yourself. Other factors that can increase cost include specialized installation with a unique design that will require more labor to install.

Prep work will also affect tile installation costs. Demolition of the existing floor, counter or backsplash takes time and energy that will be reflected in the price. Necessary repairs, such as a sub-floor that needs bolstering before tile flooring can be installed, will also increase costs. For tile showers, one example of tile installation cost may be approximately $25 per square foot including all materials and labor. Average tile installation costs for backsplashes may run anywhere from $10 to $40, depending on the materials selected and the amount of labor required. The larger the area where tile is being installed, the lower the price per square foot will likely be. For example, a flooring pro may charge approximately $3.50 per square foot for wood-look tile installation in an area ranging between 6 feet by 24 feet and 8 feet by 48 feet.
