I love his enthusiasm and methods to teach. He's an awesome musician and my daughter enjoys lessons very much.
I started taking guitar lessons with Peter about four years ago when I was a complete novice. I feel my skills in and love for guitar playing and music have advanced well beyond my initial expectations. Although my interest is focused on rock and roll lead guitar, Peter's comprehensive skills and knowledge in a wide range of styles (from classical and jazz to disco and heavy metal, and everything in between) helps him deliver additional value in every lesson. His formal education in music and music theory, real life stage and studio experience, and in depth knowledge of audio mixing, recording and synthesizing allows him to provide a comprehensive learning experience. From a personal standpoint, Peter is patient, reliable, intelligent, interesting and engaging. Every lesson is fun and I always look forward to the next one.
After studying piano for several years with teacher who focused on music theory I had attained a high level of theoretical knowledge, but still could play the piano well. I had a friend whose son had studied with Jeff and was able to play professionally. When I started with Jeff I told him that I wanted to focus on technique and play 'pretty" music. We did just that, with him arranging songs that fit my level, customized for me. I had another problem, I spend five months a year in California, and was unable to find a suitable teacher. Jeff used his considerable computer expertise to set up lessons on Skype(Skype was in its infancy in 2004). Those lessons are as good as the ones I take at his studio. Working with Jeff opened the door to a greater appreciation of classical music, and knowledge of the great composers. We also did Pop, Rock and Jazz tunes. After all this time I have yet to outpace his teaching skills. Jeff specializes i teaching youngsters, but also has many seniors, like myself. I highly recommend him for students at all levels. Luke is an outstanding teacher! I've been wanting to play acoustic guitar for over 15 years now. I hinted this to my wife, and she bought me a guitar and some lessons with Luke. My wife is incredible at doing research. She interviewed a bunch of people. Met with some, texted some, read tons of reviews, etc. She is great that way, and doesn't settle for anything less than the best! And believe me, Luke is the best! Luke seemed to be a few bucks more than some other people, but believe me, he's worth it! You get what you pay for! And when I say a few bucks more, I only mean a few bucks more. He's still relatively inexpensive compared to some other agencies or people. There were many people that cost more than him that didn't interview well at all! (according to my wife) I have been a High School teacher for 10 years now, and can truly recognize when someone is a good teacher or not. For those who are good teachers.... some of them are just naturally good at it innately, and some have to work at it. Luke is both! Meaning, I can tell that he's naturally good at it, plus he truly works at improving himself, combine this together and you get a phenomenal teacher, such as Luke! Strengths: He has the patience of a saint. He is incredible at explaining things. If something isn't understood right away, he'll use a multifaceted approach of re-explaining it differently by truly differentiating his instruction based on how you understand it best. He knows how and when to review. He'll determine your strengths and weaknesses at any moment, celebrate your strengths, and hone in on improving your weaknesses using different approaches. Luke truly caters to your needs! Meaning, if there's something you didn't get, he'll focus more time on improving it. If there's something you understood well, he'll realize this immediately and know to move on to something new, as to not waste your time and money. He's real efficient that way! And you can tell he's real deep with his explanations. He doesn't just focus on the, "how to do something," but in my opinion, his philosophy seems to focus in on the, "why." Meaning, he gives you a micro perspective of what your doing, and at the same time a global perspective in order to understand the big picture. Weaknesses: none! Honestly, none! Now I'm very critical of people's teaching ability, so if there were any, I'd list them. I don't know the guy, meaning, I never met him prior to this, so I'm being totally honest. I have no bias in this. I honestly can't think of one thing he needs to work on as a teacher. If you're looking to learn how to play the guitar, look no further!
For my live OMM act, please visit my website. Regarding my teaching, I've been teaching guitar on and off for 40 years. My guitar playing skills and teaching skills are very elevated, but I focus my teaching on beginners and intermediates. I started playing/lessons on piano at age nine, clarinet at age 13, alto sax at age 17, and finally guitar at age 18. I studied some music theory in college and finally taking professional lessons on guitar at age 23-25. I started teaching guitar (including usable music theory) at 25. Playing an instrument is "half hands, half head," to quote my former guitar teacher, Myron Weiss, who toured for the UN many years ago, and I still use his concept in teaching today! I give a free first lesson to share my vision. One can peruse my performance website to listen to what I'm doing (playing guitar synch over background tracks via computer), and one can read my bio on my website. I started on six-string acoustic and then 12 strings as well. I teach a right-hand technique using all four fingers and thumb! I teach students to read music but also use chord-blocking charts, using the following styles: - Folk - Blues - Rock - Jazz (once one is advanced and wants it) I primary use The Beatles songs offered in a "stair step," easy-to-advanced, digest-able itinerary. I teach how to improvise and play lead guitar.

Dan is a great teacher. I've always been good at math but I hate Geometry and it was affecting my grade average. I was having a really hard time understanding the lessons. Dan helped me bring my grades up and now I actually enjoy Geometry. Dan has a way of making Geometry look easy. I would definitely recommend Dan as a math tutor.
My daughter loves Miss Rose. She enjoys her lessons and have learned so much. You can tell Miss Rose is a professional and experienced teacher by her technique in teaching and how she relates to children. She is great!! Agata
I have been taking lessons with Rob since finding him here on thumbtack December 2012. I couldn't be more pleased. Rob uses his music teaching and performing experience to direct my lessons in a way that keeps it fun and challenging. I love that from week 1 or 2 that we've always been able to relate part of the lesson to a popular song in the genre and by artists that I enjoy. ....Stones, Eagles, Allmans, Van Morrison, Beatles. If you're serious about learning guitar I highly recommend that you talk to Rob!
