Jeff did work on my chimney aluminum cover and our furnace pipe which is on our roof. The cover was replaced and the pipe was sanded, primed and painted. He took pictures before and after both jobs to show tangible results of his work. Throughout this process he was courteous and responsive to my questions and concerns. I would use him again for future jobs.

I have nothing to say but good things about Baker Bros. I had a roof leak and most companies (numerous ones that I called), due to the upcoming storms couldn’t even fit me in right away for an estimate or a tarp. When I reached to to Baker Bros. (Shaun), he responded right away and was really quick to answer any questions that I had. Shaun came out the next day and looked at my roof and knew exactly what the problem was. The price he quoted me could not be beat!!! The next day Shaun was on my roof repairing my leak. I was at work and when I came home, the roof was repaired and he although he didn’t have to, he also took care of several other issues. He saved me a lot of money and he really cared that I was on a budget. I came home and there was no mess or any materials left. In fact you would never have know he was there. Thank you Shaun!!! I am VERY satisfied with the work that your company performed.

Minor water damage on our bathroom ceiling indicated a roof leak. We determined the water was coming in through the roof vent pipe and that the pipe collar needed replacing. Thomas responded quickly to my request for a bid with what I felt was a fair price for the work. We arranged a time for him to come to the house. Before the appointed time, he sent a msg letting us know he was on his way. Having been in commercial project mgmnt for 15 yrs, I am familiar with how to correctly flash and seal roof stack pipes. Thomas removed the damaged collar, added a water/ice shield, replaced shingles were needed, and applied sealant where needed. He worked quickly and cleanly. Thomas has thorough knowledge of roofing systems and applications and is clearly experienced in repairing roofs. His business model is to focus on roof inspections and repairs. He does not install roofs. This allows him to charge a reasonable fee that businesses that are primarily roof installation companies are unable to do - there is a cost to take a person of an installation crew in order to do a small roof repair. The price for the work was in line with what I felt was fair. Highly recommend Thomas with Nova CS for roof repairs and/inspections.

After several reschedules, mostly thanks to mother nature, Gio sent two crew members to install our shutters, replace some roof shingles and flashing. What we admired most about Gio was the fact that he came personally to speak with us about the job and give us an estimate which seemed very fair. He also stayed in communication with us throughout the rescheduling process. The outside of our house looks "normal" again. Thank you!

I recently had the entire roof of my house replaced with new lifetime shingles. It has been a little over two months now, and I haven't experienced any of the old problems with leaking or pooling water. I decided to use their services after consulting with several other roofing companies. Caliber offered me the best price, warranty and guarantee of quality. On the day of job, the man I spoke with for the original estimate was present and made sure everything was running smoothly during the reconstruction. The team started in the morning and worked diligently to get the job done the very same day as promised in our consultation. My one worry was about the mess created by tearing off old shingles, but the workers were sure to keep it all contained and cleaned everything on the site once they finished. I was also very pleased by their professionalism and courteous behavior. If you are in need of any roofing repair or replacement, I would highly recommend these guys. They did a fantastic job!

I can't wait to hire this company again. I'm making a list right now! I had some water damage to my floor in the basement gym and probably met with Nery to get a paint quote, but he had some great ideas about how to handle the floor rather than replace it again with more laminate or vinyl flooring. His idea paid off...the floor looks spectacular AND the paint job was meticulous. I love the results! Thank you Saskya's Painting/Remodeling😃

L&T was very responsive regarding the roof repair that I needed completed. I called and within a few hours they were out to repair a flashing around a radon pipe on my roof that has been leaking all summer and has caused extensive water damage within the walls of our newly purchased home. L&T went to the extra mile to inspect additional flashings on our roof as well. Thankfully insurance is covering the water damage, but I will be sure to contact L&T for future repairs and potential remodeling. Thank you for providing quality service along with excellent customer service and care.

The owner, Phillip, was quick to respond and thoroughly answered all of my questions in the weeks leading up to the project. Their pricing was fair and competitive and he included a 25 year transferrable warranty with the new roof (other contractors offered non transferrable 6-10 year warranties). There was some initial miss-communication about including a skylight installation in the project and he assumed it was a replacement rather than new installation, but he honored his original quote and included the installation at no additional cost. His team promptly returned to repair a leak in one of the skylights a few weeks later and everything has been leak-free since. Overall very good experience and would recommend him to others needing full roof replacements.

There needs to be a 6 star. This outfit is a class act. I interviewed 10 firms for my roof replacement . Jason spent time walking me through the project, projected costs and an honest analysis of where I could save money. At several points, I just asked him "if it was your house what would you do" and I always got an honest answer. He also backed up his findings w photos which gave me a high degree of certainty with his integrity and knew I wasn't being taken for a ride. On job day, they were fast, efficient and SUPER friendly. A+ on workmanship and they left the grounds of my house in better shape then when thy arrived. It is seldom to can find a person and company that takes this much pride in their work. 100% recommend with zero reservations.

The experience of hiring NOVA Exteriors, working with the appraiser, and having the roof done quickly and as promised was a seamless experience. After many weeks of rain, the roofers were able to install the new roof quickly, and it looks great! We also have peace of mind knowing that their work is guaranteed, too. Will definitely check with NOVA Exteriors again for future remodeling projects.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost for a metal roof?

Metal roofing installation is an attractive option thanks to metal’s long lifespan, hardiness and fire-retardant properties. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000.There are different types of metal roofs, each with their own installation needs and materials costs. Roof size also affects your metal roofing installation costs, as do regional labor rates. Roof size is measured in squares; one square equals 100 square feet. Here are some examples of the average cost for a metal roof:

  • Standard metal roof: $120-$150 per square to start, including materials and labor
    • A 30-square roof (a 3,000-square-foot roof) could cost between $3,600 and $4,500 for a typical three-bedroom home.
  • Snap-Loc metal roof: $200-$225 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $6,000-$6,750.
  • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.
  • Tuff-Rib metal roof: $250-$350 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $7,500-$10,500.
  • Mid-range metal roof package, including all accessories: $300-$500 per square.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000-$15,000.
  • High-end metal roof package — such as zinc or copper — and all accessories: $1,000-$1,500 per square.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $30,000-$45,000.

What is a standing seam metal roof?

A standing seam metal roof may be a strong, durable, safe choice when you’re considering metal roofing installation options. A standing seam refers to the raised seam where the sheet metal roofing panels join. Traditionally, shingles and roof panels lie flush to the roof, making them more prone to rust or penetration by water at their seams. In a standing seam metal roof, the raised (or standing) seams run vertically from the roof ridge to the eaves, with no horizontal seams. In addition, the fasteners joining the metal panels together are concealed, providing even fewer opportunities for water or moisture to build up. The cost to install a standing seam metal roof will depend on the type of metal you select, the size of your roof, and the cost of roofing labor in your region. Materials will play a major role in your metal roofing installation costs. If you select standard galvanized steel, the cost per square (100 square feet) might be in the $150-$300 range, while a high-end choice such as copper or zinc could be between $1,000 and $1,500 per square. Here is one example of cost:

  • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.

Can a metal roof be installed over shingles?

Metal roofs are durable, environmentally friendly, safe and budget-friendly. If you’re considering an update, metal roofing installation doesn’t have to mean completely removing your old roof. In many cases, metal roofing can be installed over your existing shingles. Research building codes in your state, as many require that after two roofs have been installed, all roofing materials must be completely removed before a third roof can be put on. This protects your home’s structural integrity and your family’s safety. Carefully read contractor reviews and choose someone with extensive experience with metal roofing installation. One concern when installing metal over shingles is that over time, condensation can build on the shingles and cause the metal to rust. This will lead to rust around the panels, making them more likely to come loose in a storm. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000. The wide price range represents different roof sizes, different types of metal, and the cost of labor in different parts of the country — and can also include the cost of removing an old shingle roof prior to installing the metal. As a line item, the average cost of removing an old roof to prepare for installing a new roof, plus adding new roof decking, costs on average about $45-$75 per square (the pro roofer’s term for 100 square feet), depending on the pitch of the roof. Always make sure you have a clearly written contract and a warranty on both the labor and the metal.
