Use Pastor Michael Welchert to officiate our August 2016 wedding. We instantly clicked with him; out-going, great listener, very experienced, spoke from the heart and really cared about us as a couple and genuinely wanted us to be happy, healthy and married. We wanted a simple, yet heart felt, deep Christian wedding officiant and Michael was everything we wanted and more! Michael offers pre-marriage counseling, which we found to be highly beneficial and gave us the opportunity to connect with him on a deeper level than with just one initial meeting. Great advice and guidance. All our wedding guests loved him and asked how we found such a great officiant. We were 110% satisfied with Michael's services and would highly recommend him to any couple.

I contracted with Mike Cooper, owner of Creative Exposures to do a photo booth for my parent's 60th Wedding Anniversary. From start to finish the service was top notch! Mike responded to my query on thumbtack promptly. He offered great suggestions to make the whole experience customized for my mom and dad. Temo, the attendant for the booth the night of the party was all set up and ready to go before the first guest even arrived and stayed past the last guest! Hugh selection of props. Really, in short, this was the hit of the party! Will most definitely be using Mike's services again. Cindi B.

Matt was the DJ for my wedding in Estes Park this last Saturday and I couldn't of asked for a better DJ. I had never met Matt in person until the day of my wedding. He kept in contact with me, always asked if I needed help was there if I had any questions. He really took the time to get to know me over the phone and understood my busy schedule living in Loveland. He showed up early for the wedding and went over everything again with me before everything started. Even though some of the things that I had planned for my wedding didn't go as planned Matt was every understanding and kept everything going smoothly. It was a day I will never forget and part of that is all thanks to Matt for the amazing job that he did.

She was so sweet and willing to get me anything I needed right away. I am beyond pleased with her service and I will recommend her to anyone I know! Also very well priced! Thank you Kim!!!!

Im very pleased with all the work done by lemar! He made sure my husband and I's reception was perfect for us! We hired him to do our wedding pictures and video as well. We had also revealed our pregnancy to the family and lemar was able to capture every perfect moment. We will be hiring him again when our baby shower comes around.

From our first meeting at a coffee shop in Denver, I knew that Catherine would not only be able to capture our wedding day organically and beautifully but that she would also be the person we would WANT alongside us every moment of the day. She and her second shooter, Krissy, made me and my husband feel absolutely and wholly comfortable in front of the camera. Catherine came with lots of ideas but was totally open to ours as well (and even spent an afternoon with us a few weeks prior going over shooting locations so that everyone would be prepared), letting us lead her down city streets and onto restaurant patios. Even with some chaos in our day, we 120% trust Catherine to continue capturing moments that we will treasure forever - she was attentive, kind, and incredibly professional and talented at the job that she so clearly loves. Additionally, all communication was speedy and professional! And the turnaround for getting our images back was above and beyond what we ever imagined. Catherine, thank you for sharing July 29th with us and giving us the most phenomenal photo memories :) With great gratitude, Nicole and Kyle

David and Justin were amazing! They obviously know what they are doing, but they bring both fun and professionalism to the work they do. During our wedding, the light was fading fast. But David and Justin still managed to pull off the impossible and do all the pictures we wanted to do by organizing people without being pushy. They work great together and are both amazing people. Highly recommended!

Rachel was amazing! She met with us for a consultation in person. She helped us put together a beautiful ceremony in short notice. We didn't originally plan to have a wedding. I had a few last minute changes and she gladly added them into our ceremony. She came to a rehearsal the night before the wedding and we had so many questions. She answered them all and gave us great advice! On the wedding day with all the chaos we forgot the marriage license at home and she waited patiently with us while we waited for my mom to run to our home and grab it (our home was about 5 minutes away). I would definitely recommend Rachel!

Sara seriously did an outstanding job at capturing all kinds of wonderful moments at our wedding, including some wonderful shots of the kids playing outside, and even our wacky costume dance party in poor lighting - that was probably really hard to capture. We threw her some curve balls, such as a silent wedding ceremony - she managed to tiptoe around in an aspen grove without making a sound! She had some great creative ideas, such as posing on the porch in twilight with her flash so that people could see the mountains behind us and the framing of the railing. After being worn out from wedding planning, we were not feeling very creative in our ideas for couples posing and she had some great ideas to help. We really, really love the photos, and people keep telling us how wonderful they were. Even some of the photos of the guests are total framers. Sara also has a fantastic sense of humor, which is welcome at any wedding ;) We will recommend her to anyone who asks, and those who don't.

I have used Oatis Green Photography for 3 photo sessions and have another scheduled in 1.5 weeks. He works with the clients wants and gives suggestions when the clients aren't sure what they really are looking wanting out of their photos. So far Otis has photographed my engagement photos, wedding, my 1st bday photos of my niece, extended family photos. And in Oct he will be doing immediate family photos. I really can't speak highly enough about Otis, his personality is on point for a friendly, informative, professional photographer.

David is great to work with! I highly recommend him to other couples looking for a wonderful photographer for their wedding, engagement or any other event. His work is beautiful and he is very easy to work with. He took the shots that we requested and suggested more that turned out amazing. We had full coverage of our special day. We are so happy that we found him. Hope to work with him again in the future.

I'll admit, I was a bit hesitant to hire her because she didn't have much wedding experience. But my Husband and I are so pleased and happy with the entertainment and professionalism that she provided. With having only talked to her a couple of times, she knew exactly what we wanted. My guests were very happy with the music and variety she offered. I had about 200 guests at my wedding and she was able to accommodate us with no issues. Also, our wedding was in Evergreen and she was willing to make the drive from Denver at little to no cost. We will definetly recommend her and choose her for future events!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a videographer and what do they do?

A videographer professionally films weddings and other events and edits the footage to create film keepsakes or marketing materials for their clients. Wedding videographers record all the key elements of your wedding day, ceremony and reception, and then edit the hours of film during post-production to make a wedding video, social media highlight reels, and any other film features you choose. Wedding videography captures, in live action, your vows, the cake-cutting, the first dance, reception toasts, the decor, the guests and all the details of your day. Many wedding videographers also interview guests (based on an interview list provided by the couple) and incorporate the recorded responses into the wedding video. Event videography typically costs less than wedding videography, as events are shorter with less detail. The national average cost for event videography is $500-$760, while the national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. A videographer usually does not need to be licensed, but it is important to confirm they have insurance and good standing in the business community, as well as good client reviews. A great majority of the work happens during post-production. The pros watch and blend together the hours of footage they took (sometimes from multiple cameras) to capture the story of your wedding day or event.

What does a wedding event coordinator do?

Pulling off a large, complex wedding or an elegant, small affair requires juggling myriad details, including the officiant, food, drink, wedding cake, entertainment, transportation, rehearsal dinner, photography, equipment rentals, venue reservations and more. A wedding event coordinator can help you keep track of these details, overseeing the planning process and managing everything on the day of your wedding. Each wedding coordinator (and wedding) is different, but in general you can expect an event coordinator to:

  • Help you devise a realistic wedding budget and hold your vendors to it.
  • Map out a master plan that includes all of the details including ceremony music, favors, the guest book and more.
  • Suggest ceremony and reception locations that fit your wedding size, budget and vision.
  • Suggest florists, photographers, bands, caterers and other vendors that fit your budget.
  • Negotiate vendor contracts for the best deals.
  • Create a timeline for the day of the wedding that includes each vendor and member of your wedding party.
  • Mail invitations and track RSVPs.
  • Answer questions about wedding etiquette and current wedding trends.
  • Manage the wedding day from supervising vendors and setup to handling last-minute emergencies.

How do you find a good caterer?

Reviews, interviews and menu tastings will help you find the right catering choice for your big day. Start by screening possible wedding caterers based on past reviews. If a caterer you are interested in has a review that concerns you, ask them about it; how they respond will be very telling. Next, ask about their availability for your wedding date.

If the wedding caterer is available on your date, it’s time to talk about menus and prices. Be clear about what your maximum budget is find out what choices this will allow you. Caterers may custom-create a menu for your event, or they may have menu templates within different price ranges that can guide your decision. A clear budget gives the caterer clear parameters within which to work and offer creative suggestions. Schedule a menu tasting to confirm you love your wedding menu. Once you have a menu and date, and have paid a deposit to reserve the caterer’s services, confirm additional details including when the food will be delivered to the site, what kind of service will be provided, how many servers will be onsite and for how long, and who is responsible for setup and cleanup. The more specific your contract, the fewer worries you’ll have on your wedding day. Get more smart hiring tips here.

What is a wedding planner?

A wedding planner is a professional service provider whose job it is to organize and execute all the details of a couple’s wedding. A wedding planner can be contracted at any stage in the wedding planning process to help to any degree the couple is willing to pay for. Wedding planning is similar to event planning in that a planning team handles the coordination of multiple wedding elements including catering, venue, guests, entertainment, decor, transportation and more. Anyone who has ever been involved in a wedding can confirm that wedding planning is hard work. Experience brings wisdom when it comes to avoiding or resolving day-of challenges. There is no legal regulatory body that oversees or certifies wedding planning as an industry. Anyone who chooses can call themselves a wedding planner. When looking for a wedding planner, be sure to read reviews, and make smart hiring decisions by asking about licenses and insurance.

How do you choose a wedding videographer?

A wedding videographer will create a lifetime memory for you from edited video footage of your wedding day, ceremony and reception. Choosing a wedding videographer starts with looking online at portfolios of their past work. There’s no need to talk to anyone unless you love what you see. Next, make sure they have good reviews and past client experience; don’t be shy about asking for references if there aren’t any posted online. When you find someone who has a style you love, ask if they are available on your wedding day. If so, it’s time to talk pricing. Be clear about your maximum budget, and ask what kind of packages they offer. Pricing will depend on the number of crew needed for filming, the hours they are required to be onsite, post-production editing, and the length of the final product. Talk with several wedding videographers to get a feel for what prices are like in your region. Nationally, the average cost for wedding videography ranges between $990 and $1,260 per event. Once you agree on a product and have a plan, get everything in a written and signed contract. Clearly state the details of what is expected for your wedding day and from the final product. Be prepared to pay a deposit to reserve their services for the day, then pay the remainder upon receiving the video.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
