Today, 07/25/18, Shaun Baker from Baker Brothers Exterior (BBE) arrived at my mother’s residence to give her a quote on roof repair. Shaun inspected the roof and came down from the roof to inform my mother that the only damage he noticed was near the chimney. This was accurate. Shaun stated the cost to replace that section of the roof would be $600.00. My mother, however, had planned to replace the entire roof and pay for it in cash, thus she asked Shaun for an estimate on such. Off the top of his head, Shaun stated it would probably cost around $6,600.00. He proceeded to go back up on the roof and came back with an even higher estimate of $8,600.00. My mother was outraged. She had already received two quotes around $6,200.00. Therefore, she told Shaun the price was too high and thanked him for the quote. Then Shaun informed my mother that he would give her a “senior citizen discount” and quoted her a price of $5,900.00. My mother was very pleased with the new quote and accepted his offer. Shaun mentioned that he would have to run it by his brother. Less than 2 hours later, my mother received the following text from Shaun: “Your estimate with Baker Bros. has been cancelled. Please contact us if you need more information or have any questions.” What kind of business does crap like that? This company is so unprofessional that they do not, personally, call the customer to negotiate on a price. Instead, they arbitrarily cancel the contract due to no fault of the customer! My question is: Why send a representative that is ONLY qualified to inspect a roof and not provide the customer with an HONEST quote? Why in the hell would a company need to run it by someone else – who by the way, never came to inspect the roof him-/herself? So it appears this company has no remorse about wasting a customer’s valuable time! I should have taken heed to warnings posted by other people who contracted with BBE, such as: Jay, Jun 10, 2018 (1 star); Alfred M., Feb 28, 2018 (1 star); and Constance S., May 9, 2017 (2 stars). Please read their reviews. I plan to post this experience on every social media site I can think of, in addition to my Facebook and YouTube channels. Look for the links soon! BBE does not deserve 1 star. I would give you a zero. I hope you lose business behind your unscrupulous business practices.
