She just did my wedding on September 10th and took the job on the last min. She was amazing..... A true professional. She arrived an hour early. She is so nice and friendly. She did our service in English and Spanish because my husband is from Honduras. Thank you for helping make my wedding amazing.

Chris DJ'd our wedding almost 10 years ago, and he was AWESOME. He's the DJ that everyone wants but can seldom find: hip but not too trendy, knows and appreciates all types/sorts of music, and most important- has the ability to get all ages on the dance floor, enjoying themselves. I highly recommend DJ Repeatable for you wedding or event.

If you are looking for a photographer to capture the true essence and feeling of your wedding day, then look no further. We cannot rate Elmo any higher; he is extremely professional yet somehow manages to mingle in so well with your guests that he becomes one of them – so discrete! His photos and creative videos, absolutely perfect and flawless – we got married on very hot, and humid day in August, thank God we had picked Elmo to capture the day as the quality and number of special moments captured were outstanding. You will have no regrets if you go with Elmo!” Kevin & Tara

My husband and I hired Alice to be our wedding officiant this past July. She was so so wonderful! First off, she was extremely professional and took the time to get to know us via FaceTime because we lived in Chicago at the time we were planning our wedding in Maryland. She got right back to us with a draft of our ceremony and catered to our wishes of having a very secular ceremony. Upon moving back to MD, Alice came over to our home to meet us in person and prepare a little more for the big day. She arrived on time for the rehearsal the day before, as well as on the wedding day. She completed her duties of signing and sending in our wedding certificate as well. We would highly recommend Alice to any couple looking for a down to earth, loving, and spiritual person to marry them.

I hired this company for hair and make-up for my wedding. They arrived on time (if not early :-) ) and got right to work. Both the hair and make-up artists were able to understand my bridesmaids and my visions and ensure that we looked our best. They accommodated all of my requests and did so with a smile. I would fully recommend this company and plan to use them again in the future for other events.

Thank you Rev. Diane Hirsch, not only for making sure that our wedding ceremony goes smoothly, but also for listening to us and understanding who we are as a couple. Your positive attitude throughout the whole process, and especially on the day of the wedding, made us feel calm and confident that no matter what goes wrong, we would still have the best time of our lives. You exceeded our expectations! We wish you best of luck!

I love the video of my daughter's wedding that was produced by Dynamic Reel with very short notice! The wedding was very small and Ilya did a fabulous job of capturing the event, the facility, and the guests. We are very happy that we chose to work with Dynamic Reel to capture the very special event. Thank you Ilya!

DJ 'Zo was the perfect addition to our wedding last weekend! She got there two hours ahead of time to set up and ensure that everything sounded good. She even managed to quickly handle a power scare (totally the venue's fault) without interrupting any of our pre-ceremony activities. She efficiently transitioned into our reception space, played all of our requested music, and kept the dance floor going the whole time. She was responsive and easy to work with even though we had many specific announcements for her to make. We would highly recommend her for your wedding!

Teresa was a dream to work with! She did me and my mom's makeup on my wedding day and then did eyelashes for 3 people as well. Leading up to the big day Teresa always answered emails very promptly and made sure I had all the information I needed. She is so sweet, listens thoughtfully to any questions and made me and my mom look (and more importantly FEEL) so beautiful!

Steven played at our wedding last week and he was amazing. He DJ'ed our reception, played guitar during cocktail hour, and his Irish trio performed during our ceremony. Everything was perfect. He was so accommodating and flexible and knowledgeable. I loved being able to provide my own playlist for dancing, and loved that he could fill in and suggest songs for when I didn't know what would work best. He was also a great emcee, announcing our entrance and first dance and all the rest. During the lead up to the wedding, he was always easy to get in touch with and quick to respond. He even DJ'ed an extra hour for us when I decided the morning of the wedding that I wanted the reception to go a little later. Whether you need ceremony musicians or a DJ, Steven is your guy. I can't recommend him enough!

I can't believe it's taken me this long to sing Erin's praises! She was the second makeup artist we contacted for wedding make up (don't even ask about the first one). Erin was calm and cool and funny. She put us at ease during the practice round and was even better on the big day! She completely understood the look we wanted and her work was impeccable. We looked like our best, youthful selves and it was the perfect start to the best day of our lives.

Nik proposed in 3/17 & we didn't want to wait so once we locked in the venue, we began looking for a photographer. Our wedding was considered it an elopement as it was a simple service with 11 in attendance, myself & my groom included, and it was to be roughly 3 hours of shoot time. We wanted to have a natural feel to the photos & be rich in color with no details missed. During the search, I wanted to see portfolios of weddings where the photographer had shot in dimly lit venues. Although we didn't do a traditional reception, we did have all of our guests join us for a dinner where we did a toast & cut cake. We wanted to see work that demonstrated the photographer's ability to photograph without the use of bright lights that create shadows or completely black out the room to get one (or a few) subject(s). Joshua was very accommodating when it came down to deciding between three local artists & I'd asked to view a full wedding since in reality, the online portfolios only showcase their best work. He was incredibly patient with us as we took a few weeks to really nit-pick the photographer's work & make a decision. Everything that we'd asked for he provided. Fast forward to June 10, 2017 - the wedding. Upon arrival, he helped us all get into place & even communicate between the groom & I. He was incredibly patient. Honestly, I barely noticed him once everything got rolling. He got all the shots we wanted & then some! The photos of my husband's expression when I made my way towards him will be cherished forever. Anything in particular we wanted, he did. In the end, he ran a few photos by us to see if they were to our satisfaction. We made a few suggestions regarding saturation & a small blemish that needed editing & when the gallery went up, I couldn't stop looking for days. We happily recommend Joshua Fernandez Photography. The photos selected are two of our favorites from the day <3

After emailing and texting each other for a while, and specifically after being screwed by Sugar J's Specialty Cakes & Decor who was not communicative and informed me 40days before my wedding, and only after my attempt to communicate with them (wife and husband) for almost 3 weeks that they could not make my cake, I have a lovely experience with Rosa, Process was smooth, a real professional. We reconnected and spoke for about 2 days, came to an agreement on price, we met for cake tasting, she is professional and friendly, most importantly, she cakes were very delicious. She advised me with design and sizes, it made perfect sense, and I cannot wait to see my wedding cake and I am already highly recommending her. Thank you Rosa

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a videographer and what do they do?

A videographer professionally films weddings and other events and edits the footage to create film keepsakes or marketing materials for their clients. Wedding videographers record all the key elements of your wedding day, ceremony and reception, and then edit the hours of film during post-production to make a wedding video, social media highlight reels, and any other film features you choose. Wedding videography captures, in live action, your vows, the cake-cutting, the first dance, reception toasts, the decor, the guests and all the details of your day. Many wedding videographers also interview guests (based on an interview list provided by the couple) and incorporate the recorded responses into the wedding video. Event videography typically costs less than wedding videography, as events are shorter with less detail. The national average cost for event videography is $500-$760, while the national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. A videographer usually does not need to be licensed, but it is important to confirm they have insurance and good standing in the business community, as well as good client reviews. A great majority of the work happens during post-production. The pros watch and blend together the hours of footage they took (sometimes from multiple cameras) to capture the story of your wedding day or event.

What is a wedding planner?

A wedding planner is a professional service provider whose job it is to organize and execute all the details of a couple’s wedding. A wedding planner can be contracted at any stage in the wedding planning process to help to any degree the couple is willing to pay for. Wedding planning is similar to event planning in that a planning team handles the coordination of multiple wedding elements including catering, venue, guests, entertainment, decor, transportation and more. Anyone who has ever been involved in a wedding can confirm that wedding planning is hard work. Experience brings wisdom when it comes to avoiding or resolving day-of challenges. There is no legal regulatory body that oversees or certifies wedding planning as an industry. Anyone who chooses can call themselves a wedding planner. When looking for a wedding planner, be sure to read reviews, and make smart hiring decisions by asking about licenses and insurance.

How do you choose a wedding videographer?

A wedding videographer will create a lifetime memory for you from edited video footage of your wedding day, ceremony and reception. Choosing a wedding videographer starts with looking online at portfolios of their past work. There’s no need to talk to anyone unless you love what you see. Next, make sure they have good reviews and past client experience; don’t be shy about asking for references if there aren’t any posted online. When you find someone who has a style you love, ask if they are available on your wedding day. If so, it’s time to talk pricing. Be clear about your maximum budget, and ask what kind of packages they offer. Pricing will depend on the number of crew needed for filming, the hours they are required to be onsite, post-production editing, and the length of the final product. Talk with several wedding videographers to get a feel for what prices are like in your region. Nationally, the average cost for wedding videography ranges between $990 and $1,260 per event. Once you agree on a product and have a plan, get everything in a written and signed contract. Clearly state the details of what is expected for your wedding day and from the final product. Be prepared to pay a deposit to reserve their services for the day, then pay the remainder upon receiving the video.

How much does it cost for a photographer for a wedding?

Finding the right wedding photographer can make a big difference for your ceremony. Nationally, the average wedding photographer’s price ranges from $800 to $1,000, but costs can be much higher in areas like Chicago, New York or Los Angeles where some couples spend $2,000 to $5,000 or more for the photographer they want. Factors that can affect your wedding photographer prices include the photographer’s reputation and experience. Heavy hitters can command top rates, especially during wedding-season weekends. Day of the week also affects your cost. You may get a $200 discount on wedding photographer prices if you get married on a Friday in November rather than a Saturday in June. Time onsite is also an important cost factor. Hiring a photographer to snap photos from the moment you wake up until after last call at the reception is going to cost more than five hours of pictures during the day. Multiple photographers, special lighting, and videography will also increase your costs. Ultimately you want to find someone who has a style you love and can provide the number of edited shots you want for a price you can handle. Learn more about hiring a wedding photographer.

What should you ask your wedding videographer before hiring?

Finding the perfect wedding videographer doesn’t have to be stressful. Asking a few key questions upfront will help you find the right fit for your big day. Before talking with wedding videographers, research their work online. Look at their websites, business profiles and social media, and see what their finished wedding videos look like. If the style fits what you’re envisioning, it’s time to reach out. During initial contact, make sure you get along with the person. This is important since they’ll be interacting with you and your guests.

Your first question should be about their availability; there’s no point in going further if they’re booked on your wedding day. Ask to see references if they’re not readily available online. Next, it’s time to talk about money. Ask how they determine rates or what kind of packages they offer. When you settle on a rate and the services you want, make sure to have a written contract that outlines everything, including cost, length of time they film, what post-production will include, and when you can expect to receive the edited project.
