In a world where far too often, hiring a contractor entails trying to find a reputable one, find one that actually gets back to you setup a quote, one that actually shows up to give you the quote and, even if they accept the job, it's like pulling teeth to have them get back to you in a timely fashion, communicate with you or even come to do the job.......I'd like to introduce you to Mario, the owner of Chronos Electrical, HVAC & Plumbing. You might notice that this company has 5 star reviews.  Believe me when I tell you that this is not accurate.....this is 100 star or more company, no question! There is truly no praise high enough for the service you will receive if you hire this company! I submitted a request for an hvac repair late Saturday night on May 10th of this year through Thumbtack.  Even though it was a Sunday & Mother's Day, Mario messaged me the very next day. He even said he'd call me that night when i requested a call if it was OK. & HE DID JUST THAT! He introduced himself, listened to me intently, addressed my every concern & promised to get back to me the following day once he located & priced my part with a quote. The very next day, I was texted my quote. No chasing, no teeth pulling....just straight, good business. The quote was more than reasonable. When I requested he forward it to me with his warranty info through thumbtack, he did so that very night! I agreed happily & contracted him to do the job as soon as possible. He told me he could do it in one day that Thursday. Talk about quick service! I have to state here that I had already talked to a couple of other so called 5 star or highly rated companies that never even had the courtesy to get back to me regardless of saying they would & were talking weeks out to schedule. On Wednesday, Mario messaged me that the part required was out of production & his distributor could not get the part needed to him in time for our scheduled appointment but not to worry. We had set our appointment for noon Thursday. He asked if he could arrive @10am instead so he could pull my motor & take it to the local Lennox distributor to get the appropriate replacement part & still complete the job as promised that day. I agreed. Thursday came & about 20 mins before our appointment, he messaged me with his eta. Mario arrived with a smile, immediately put booties on & went to work. He pulled the motor & filter & told me he hoped to be back within an hour or so. A little after an hour had passed, I received a text with his eta for arriving back at my house. He arrived & took the time to sit with me & show me the new part compared to my old one just so I'd know what was going in my system. He assured me if he wasn't satisfied he wouldn't leave until we both were. Back to work he went & in no time at all, my system was humming along beautifully. He left everything in perfect order .......you'd never even know he had been there except for my perfectly repaired system, running like a charm. I paid him happily & he assured me that if i had any issues or further questions to not hesitate to call his cell directly. I immediately asked what other services his company performed, which seems to be anything anyone might need. FINALLY! A businessman who truly lives the epitome of service! Timely contact, reasonable & fair quotes, exquisite communication through & through & one of the nicest, most knowledgeable & pleasant people i have ever been graced to meet! So.....please forgive the length of the review but I needed to make sure EVERYONE knows without question that you will NEVER find a more responsive, knowledgeable & all around TRUE businessman in every sense of the word! If you need work, check with Mario......you will not be anything but blown away by this excellent, top of the line contractor, ready & able to serve whatever need may arise! Worst experience ever. Plumber and assistant seem to not be well coordinated - we spoke to the assistant in detail about the job and sent photos. The plumber showed up two hours late, not knowing what the job was and without the hardware he needed and had to leave twice to purchase items. The plumber then told me his usual fee is $250 but he wanted me to pay $100 extra “because of all of the extra work and parts.” This was outrageous because not only am I familiar with the items he purchased, (nowhere near $100!) but he also was CONSIDERABLY at fault for all the problems and should have at the very least charged his usual fee without the addition.

Though Remy did eventually bring the project to a satisfactory conclusion, the process of getting there involved duplicity on his part and a lot of taxing project management on my part so I cannot recommend his work. Remy lied to me multiple times in important ways and caused a 1-day project to stretch into 4 days of argument and headache.

Details:
— I hired Remy to replace a hot water heater because he said he has a licensed plumber who works for him. At my request he sent me the plumber’s name and license number which checked out, and he told me that he and the plumber would come to do the job (MA requires licensed plumbers do plumbing jobs).
— Remy and a second man arrived to do the job. Later I learned (by meeting the actual plumber) that the second man was not the plumber. Remy - who is also not a plumber - installed the water heater himself, against MA law and more importantly against what we’d explicitly discussed. I would not have hired his company if I knew someone without a plumbing license would do the install; he took our job and deposit under false pretenses.
— The install was terrible; what should have been a 1-day job turned into 4 days of me needing to stay home from work to manage the mess.
— First, I noticed a leak in one of the pipes in our water recirculation system. When I called Remy he pretended not to know about the leak. I know this was a lie because he’d attempted to fix it using thread-sealing paste that was still wet. When I pressed him about the leak he admitted that it was caused by his install, but claimed that he wasn’t responsible for fixing it because it wasn’t on a part that he’d installed (only one that he’d damaged).
— I’d withheld part of the job cost until completion so was able to use that to negotiate for him to send his (real) plumber to fix the leak. This was not without controversy; Remy pushed to be paid in full even before the leak was fixed because he claimed to be a “man of [his] word” despite already having lied to me twice. I find this especially egregious. I know mistakes happen, but there’s a difference between someone who makes note of a mistake and offers to resolve it, and someone who tries to hide it and then denies and deflects responsibility. I resent getting stuck working with someone who I feel I must closely monitor lest he try to pull a fast one on me, and then argue with him to get him to fix his mistakes. It is exhausting and anxiety-inducing, especially as a woman trying to not be duped by male tradespeople.
— On day 2, his licensed plumber came to assess the leak and immediately determined he didn’t have the part to fix it and it was too late in the day to get it, despite Remy knowing what the leak was and having multiple photos on day 1.
— While all of this was underway, we didn’t have hot water despite our new tank. “Hot” water was between 85-110 degrees rather than north of 150 that was expected from the setting on the heater. I later diagnosed the issue on my own: Remy forgot to open the valve that lets hot water run from the tank and into the building.
— On day 3, Remy’s plumber did fix the initial leak from the damaged check valve, but I’d also found another leak where the hot water leaves the tank. This was due to the fitting not being tightened sufficiently.
— On day 4, Remy sent a third-party plumber to fix the second leak. This man was a delight and took care of the issue with skill and ease.
— The one nod in Remy’s favor (and why this is a 3-star review rather than a 2-star) is that he arranged for a junk removal company to come for our old hot water tank when he realized he couldn’t remove it himself. That was an out-of-pocket expense for me, but I appreciate him doing the labor of setting it up. It was a good-faith gesture on his part when he could tell I was getting deeply fed up by day 3 of this saga.

Ralph is a great plumber and kind man. Within 2.5 hours, I contacted him for a quote, and the service is already done...and at a price which beat the others. Most notably, while a toilet clog can be embarrassing, Ralph handled the job with kindness and professionalism, which was much appreciated. All I needed was a wall-mounted sink installed (just 2 bolts). The water supply and drain were already in place. Even after I sent pictures and explained exactly what I needed, they still insisted on sending someone out to quote the job (a $59 charge). The quote was an insulting $2,950. My rental property had a crappy Martha Stewart bathroom faucet that developed a leak on the hot side. My previous plumber was responding slow and bailed out on me once.

The "service" call amounted to looking at my troublesome faucet and telling me I'd need a new one. I opted to buy my own, and was then quoted $750 just for the installation. It was argued to me that they don't know the extent of the work (so what is the point of coming to diagnose it?). I was then quoted $250 to replace a toilet flapper which costs $20, even though both jobs would happen on the same visit. Throughout the visit, the plumber refused to even touch anything, and around all three of my issues said "needs replacing". No repair possibility was even entertained.

I refused, and was charged $59 for the pleasure of being told nothing can be fixed.

Definitely would not recommend.
