Dennis arrived a hour early, did more work than we bargained for, and did not charge more than we agreed to. I would definitely hire Dennis again. All repairs were plumbing related.

After a recent tub/shower renovation by another plumbing firm the faucet developed a major leak. The original plumbing company would not even call us back or answer an email. We discovered Thumbtack and asked for estimates based on the faucet manufactures analysis of the problem.Danika's bid was based on menu pricing so we knew what the job would cost. Cory and Jordan were on the job a couple days after we accepted the quote, they were professional and courteous, the job cost what had been quoted and we have found a new plumber to recommend. Thank you.

Zane and Robert took a look at the problem and found the pipe that broke was the main water line to the house. They were able to find a couple options to solve the problem. They helped me make an informed decision. They put in a new pipe the same day. Hard workers and very polite.

I find Nick as totally a forthright and concerned plumber doing the work right. In my case I asked him to price the replacement of a galvanized pipe because I thought it was plugged with calcium causing low hot water pressure at the kitchen sink. When he came he offered to first inspect the water line and showed me the pressure was fine out of the pipe before the sink. So to make the long story short what I thought was going to be over a thousand dollars, was less than a tenth of that, he unplugged a narrow flex hose in the faucet and flushed the water tank of sediment, and at the same time recommended I replace the water tank, which is the source of the problem. Thumbs Up!

Aaron of JAFCO was very professional. We had sewer blockage. He diagnosed the problem and provided a recommended solution at a reasonable price. The solution required replacing approximately 25' of exterior sewer line and installing a clean-out. His crew appeared promptly at the time scheduled and all work was completed as efficiently as possible. I highly recommend JAFCO Co for any plumbing needs. I certainly will work with him again in the future for my plumbing projects..

Today was my first time to Use Bee's Plumbing. I had a rather urgent issue at one of my rentals. Since the rainy season started back there was a string smell of sewerage coming from a basement Toilet. I put the job on Thumbtack and within minutes I got a response from Melissa. Within 30 minutes I have 8 companies that contacted me about the job. I chose Bee's on a gut feeling as Melissa seemed to be so responsive, friendly & organized. She quickly called me back, set me up for an appointment at a time that suited me and as soon as we finished the call I got a text AND an email (which I love as I hate using paper), to confirm the appointment and also a Bio of Carlton the plumber. He arrived ahead of time, quickly assessed the issue, recommended a repair and once I approved, completed it and was done and gone within the hour. He was awesome. You hear stories of plumbing companies who just want to get the most $'s out of a customer, especially one who has no choice. Not Bee's, the total cost was the $99 call out charge. Bee's are my go to guys from this day on for my rentals & my home. Thank You Guy's!!!

Our initial call to the Pipe Dr was for a side sewer that started backing up early in the morning. Due to the relative urgency of the situation, we called The Pipe Doctor because of their good reviews, they opened at 7:30 (most places opened at 8:00), and they were able to come out the same day. They arrived within a couple hours of our call, which was more than we expected/hoped for. They were able to clear out the blockage, and recommended that we consider replacing a portion of the side sewer that had sunk. For various reasons we declined, however, when we needed to call them out 11 days later, we decided to move forward with their suggestion. They made whole the process as painless as possible. The plan changed a couple of times because of where other utilities crossed over our sewer and what was seen once all of the connections were unburied, however, Trish and Josh kept us updated, gave us our options, and we feel that they did a wonderful job. They also recommended a great company to fill the asphalt drive once they were done. They were reasonably priced, very friendly, knowledgeable, and we will definitely call on them if we other issues.

Craig and Sonia were amazing! We were selling our house due to job relocation, had tank inspected and was told we needed a whole new system and drain field to the tune of $20K-$35K. Craig and Sonia responded very quickly, came out with in a couple days, was able to repair my septic tank, replace the d-box and transport lines, add filter and risers, saving my husband and I not only a ton of money, but unnecessary stress brought on by the original septic company. Craig was upfront and honest, very knowledgeable about what needed to be done. Great communication via telephone and text by Craig and Sonia. I even referred my neighbor to him as they are also selling their house to downsize and were having septic issues - he was able to help them as soon as he was finished with my repairs. They are genuinely there to help people! I am referring them to all my other neighbors, family and friends! Thank you again so so much!!!

Cody and his team were very helpful during a very stressful plumbing crisis that required replacing 100 year old pipes in my home and inspecting the sewer line. Cody stayed until the job was done, even though that required work after normal hours. I was so grateful to have an honest and reliable team of professionals in my home.

Very impressive. They were polite and easy to deal with. I also called Raymark to replace our faucet and reverse osmosis water filter system. Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How often do you clean a septic tank?

For homeowners with a septic system, it’s important to have a regular septic cleaning schedule. To protect ground and drinking water, the Environmental Protection Agency recommends residential septic cleaning every three years. Many septic system companies state that you can maintain a healthy system with regular septic cleanings every three to five years. In addition to cleaning, a septic tank inspection once a year will uncover problems and can save you thousands in cleanup and repair.

When waste goes into your septic system, it separates into three parts. The solids (sludge) drop to the bottom, wastewater floats in the middle, and a layer of scum rises to the top. Regularly scheduled cleanings prevent the sludge in your septic tank from building up and clogging your tank, leading to an overflow. Pricing for a standard septic cleaning ranges between $200 and $500, with the national average cost at $315. It’s easier, more cost-effective, and better for your home health to keep your septic tank maintained.

        Who pumps septic tanks?

Septic system professionals pump septic tanks. Pros in different states will have different licensing and certification regulations. Make sure the company you hire is licensed and certified, is a legitimate business, and has the appropriate insurance. Damage to your septic system could cost thousands of dollars in cleanup and repair, so it’s best to hire a qualified professional from the start.

Using an industrial-strength vacuum hose connected to a tanker truck, the septic tank company will pump out the contents of your tank. First they break up the scum of the top layer, then mix the sludge (on the bottom) into the wastewater for removal. To get all the sludge and scum from the tank, pros may use a tool called a septage spoon that loosens stubborn waste from the sides of the tank. After the tank is hosed down and empty, it is inspected for any cracks or leaks that could lead to trouble in the future. The waste in the truck is then transported and disposed of at a waste management treatment center, a cesspool or an approved dumping site.

When should you clean a septic system?

Experts agree that you should clean your septic system every three to five years for optimal system health and safe water. You should also have it inspected every year to catch minor issues before they become major. If you think you may be overdue for a septic cleaning, here are signs that you should call a pro immediately.

        • You’re at capacity: If the bottom of the scum layer is within six inches of the bottom of the tank’s outlet or if the top of the sludge layer is within 12 inches of the outlet, your tank needs to be pumped, according to the EPA.
        • It stinks: If you can smell wastewater, call a pro right away to clean your tank, pipes and field.
        • Sewage backup: Raw sewage backing up into the pipes in your home is no fun. The pros can pump out your pipes, clean your tanks and clear any clogs, but it will be a complex and messy job.
        • Pooling water: Water collecting around your tank or drain field can be a sign you need to clean your septic system.
        • Super grass: If the grass above your septic system drain field suddenly gets vibrantly green and lush, the septic tank leak could be leaking sewage and fertilizing your lawn in unwanted ways. Call a pro to inspect it right away.

How much is it to clean a septic tank?

Nobody wants their septic tank to back up. Regular septic cleaning and pumping is important to keep your ground and drinking water protected from harmful bacteria. The Environmental Protection Agency recommends septic system cleaning every three years. The national average cost for a septic tank specialist is $315. Costs for septic cleaning may vary based on where you live, how large your septic tank is, and how long it has been since the last cleaning. If it’s been many years since you’ve had your tank cleaned, the process of breaking up and removing the solids may take longer and could cost more. Typical residential septic tanks range in size from 1,000 to 2,500 gallons. The price range for septic cleaning usually averages $200-$500, with varying by tank size. Repairs or replacement parts will also add to your cost. To keep your septic tank in good health between cleanings, only flush approved items such as toilet paper, and don’t rely on your garbage disposal for composting. Items that don’t break down easily (like lemon rinds or feminine hygiene products) can back up the septic system, leading to clogs and overflow. If you smell the unmistakable odor of sewage or can see sewage bubbling up above your drain field, call for a septic cleaning immediately.
