Rev. Boone did a wonderful job for our wedding service! His rate was more than reasonable, he did not charge a travel fee, he worked with me to set up the service that we wanted, and he provided us with a nicely printed and ribbon bound copy of the ceremony wording as a keepsake. He checked in frequently in the days and weeks before the ceremony to be sure we were on track, feeling good, and had procured our marriage license. My husband & I highly recommend Reverend Boone!

Leslie and team at Fabulous Affairs did an amazing job with my wedding reception. Everyone at the event commented on how amazing the food was. Their menu recommendations were great1 Even our minister commented that it was the best food he's had at a wedding and he's been to a lot of weddings. A big thank you!

Charles made us feel very comfortable and he read exactly what we asked of him and he made the ceremony feel personal. We received many complements on his service after the wedding ceremony. You can tell he loves what he does, and he was the perfect person to officiate our wedding.

My wife and I were married on June 22nd, 2018, and Cory (DJ EnCore) was a fantastic DJ for us. I would unequivocally recommend him to anyone looking for a DJ for any sort of event (though obviously, I am most familiar with his wedding DJ skills). Here’s a sampling of some of the great things he did for us: * Most importantly, he provided a crowd-pleasing selection of music for all the various part of our wedding including entrances, first dances, dinner music, dance floor, and closing music. When it was appropriate, he played music that got everyone hyped up. When the timing called for more of a background feel, he played that. This is exactly how a DJ should function. * Provided excellent communication through email and phone. Due to the fact that I lived out-of-state, we didn’t meet Cory in person until the day of the event, but this was not a problem at all. * Very reasonably priced and accepted a choice of payment methods * Played music that was very much in line with the preferences of my wife and I. We had a rather broad selection of 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, 2000s, R&B, line-dances, 10 songs requested ahead of time, and songs by request at the wedding. I heard songs from all of these categories. * Arrived early and stayed throughout the event. * Checked in with us during the event to make sure everything was going as we imagined. Again, fantastic service from Cory, and I would certainly look to him for any event I needed DJed in the future.

Exceptional DJ that made our wedding one full of great music and the biggest collection of tired-from-dancing legs I have seen in a while. The sound was fenomenal and everything from ceremony music to cocktail hour, and reception was on cue.and if it isn't enough, nearly all the guests complimented us on the music and atmosphere. I think that speaks volumes about the DJ. We highly recommend Glenn Todd Lively for any kind of wedding hands down!!

Michael was absolutely incredible. He had all the equipment needed and placed every speaker in perfect positions and had great dance floor lights. He played all the music we wanted for the ceremony, also for our introductions. There was never a dull moment during the reception. He had everyone up and dancing from beginning to end, and we even extended it an extra hour, which he was more then pleased to keep the party going. We highly recommend booking DJ the Mood for your next event, or wedding!

Jennifer and Audrey were an amazing help for our wedding. From day one Jennifer was enthusiast about helping out in whatever ways possible. I think the best part is how well they worked on our wedding day with our DJ and others to make everything such a success. It seemed like everyone tossed in a hand for everything they could. Our photo's (and albums) turned out amazing. They are forever going to be a symbol of our happiness. Jennifer and Audrey were able to capture plenty of perfect pictures in many different parts of our wedding. Thank you!

Lyndie and her staff catered my daughter's wedding May 16, 2015 near Austin. Her menu suggestions worked out great and the food was fresh, beautifully plated and delicious. She is very easy to work with and truly made the most of our catering budget. We had a Cajun themed wedding and Lyndie's Shrimp Boil was the best I've ever had and we had so many wonderful compliments! I would not hesitate a minute to use Lyndie Clement again. If I could give more stars, I would!!

I was overwhelming pleased with Yomakeup! I had a makeup artist cancel at the last minute for my wedding and Jessika saved me! Everyone commented on the whole night how wonderful all of our makeup was done. If I ever have another event or need to have my makeup done she will be my first call. She will also be my recommendation to anyone that asks.

Daniel was amazing from the moment we inquired to the end of our wedding. Not to mention we were looking for a DJ less than 2 weeks before our wedding. he communicates very well , he listens, he is very professional ( and dresses nice too :) ] he is extremely organized and punctual and spoke with us at least 4 times before the wedding to get our timeline and feel for what kidn of " vibe" we wanted. He made my husband and I feel very comfortable from day one and everyone at our wedding( all family from out of town) loved him and treated him like our family/guest. they even asked for his info in case he ever travels to Chicago :) We ended up adding extra hours just so we could keep him around since everyone love him. I was running 30 minutes to my wedding and Daniel was the reason I was calm knowing that he had everything under control. he was even texting me as i was being transported to my own wedding. He truly made our small intimate wedding that much more memorable and exciting and we are happy that he also provided us with go pro footage. I have nothing but good things to say about Daniel and i definitely recommend him to anyone looking for a DJ in the Austin Area. My husband and I will definitely hire him again- we will happily hire him as a DJ at our future baby shower just to have him around. we appreciate you Daniel thank you for making our wedding day that much more memorable!

I have seen superb photography work for weddings and many special events. Also, excellent graphic designs and cinematography work with music videos, music design covers, short film works and wedding videos. In addition, this group has experience with web development for small businesses, organizations, and events. They are easy to work with, professional and timely with finished products. I highly recommend them. P. Williams

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What does a wedding event coordinator do?

Pulling off a large, complex wedding or an elegant, small affair requires juggling myriad details, including the officiant, food, drink, wedding cake, entertainment, transportation, rehearsal dinner, photography, equipment rentals, venue reservations and more. A wedding event coordinator can help you keep track of these details, overseeing the planning process and managing everything on the day of your wedding. Each wedding coordinator (and wedding) is different, but in general you can expect an event coordinator to:

  • Help you devise a realistic wedding budget and hold your vendors to it.
  • Map out a master plan that includes all of the details including ceremony music, favors, the guest book and more.
  • Suggest ceremony and reception locations that fit your wedding size, budget and vision.
  • Suggest florists, photographers, bands, caterers and other vendors that fit your budget.
  • Negotiate vendor contracts for the best deals.
  • Create a timeline for the day of the wedding that includes each vendor and member of your wedding party.
  • Mail invitations and track RSVPs.
  • Answer questions about wedding etiquette and current wedding trends.
  • Manage the wedding day from supervising vendors and setup to handling last-minute emergencies.

What is a videographer and what do they do?

A videographer professionally films weddings and other events and edits the footage to create film keepsakes or marketing materials for their clients. Wedding videographers record all the key elements of your wedding day, ceremony and reception, and then edit the hours of film during post-production to make a wedding video, social media highlight reels, and any other film features you choose. Wedding videography captures, in live action, your vows, the cake-cutting, the first dance, reception toasts, the decor, the guests and all the details of your day. Many wedding videographers also interview guests (based on an interview list provided by the couple) and incorporate the recorded responses into the wedding video. Event videography typically costs less than wedding videography, as events are shorter with less detail. The national average cost for event videography is $500-$760, while the national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. A videographer usually does not need to be licensed, but it is important to confirm they have insurance and good standing in the business community, as well as good client reviews. A great majority of the work happens during post-production. The pros watch and blend together the hours of footage they took (sometimes from multiple cameras) to capture the story of your wedding day or event.

How do you find a good caterer?

Reviews, interviews and menu tastings will help you find the right catering choice for your big day. Start by screening possible wedding caterers based on past reviews. If a caterer you are interested in has a review that concerns you, ask them about it; how they respond will be very telling. Next, ask about their availability for your wedding date.

If the wedding caterer is available on your date, it’s time to talk about menus and prices. Be clear about what your maximum budget is find out what choices this will allow you. Caterers may custom-create a menu for your event, or they may have menu templates within different price ranges that can guide your decision. A clear budget gives the caterer clear parameters within which to work and offer creative suggestions. Schedule a menu tasting to confirm you love your wedding menu. Once you have a menu and date, and have paid a deposit to reserve the caterer’s services, confirm additional details including when the food will be delivered to the site, what kind of service will be provided, how many servers will be onsite and for how long, and who is responsible for setup and cleanup. The more specific your contract, the fewer worries you’ll have on your wedding day. Get more smart hiring tips here.

What is a wedding planner?

A wedding planner is a professional service provider whose job it is to organize and execute all the details of a couple’s wedding. A wedding planner can be contracted at any stage in the wedding planning process to help to any degree the couple is willing to pay for. Wedding planning is similar to event planning in that a planning team handles the coordination of multiple wedding elements including catering, venue, guests, entertainment, decor, transportation and more. Anyone who has ever been involved in a wedding can confirm that wedding planning is hard work. Experience brings wisdom when it comes to avoiding or resolving day-of challenges. There is no legal regulatory body that oversees or certifies wedding planning as an industry. Anyone who chooses can call themselves a wedding planner. When looking for a wedding planner, be sure to read reviews, and make smart hiring decisions by asking about licenses and insurance.

How do you choose a wedding videographer?

A wedding videographer will create a lifetime memory for you from edited video footage of your wedding day, ceremony and reception. Choosing a wedding videographer starts with looking online at portfolios of their past work. There’s no need to talk to anyone unless you love what you see. Next, make sure they have good reviews and past client experience; don’t be shy about asking for references if there aren’t any posted online. When you find someone who has a style you love, ask if they are available on your wedding day. If so, it’s time to talk pricing. Be clear about your maximum budget, and ask what kind of packages they offer. Pricing will depend on the number of crew needed for filming, the hours they are required to be onsite, post-production editing, and the length of the final product. Talk with several wedding videographers to get a feel for what prices are like in your region. Nationally, the average cost for wedding videography ranges between $990 and $1,260 per event. Once you agree on a product and have a plan, get everything in a written and signed contract. Clearly state the details of what is expected for your wedding day and from the final product. Be prepared to pay a deposit to reserve their services for the day, then pay the remainder upon receiving the video.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
